Questions & Answers
A Milwaukee planer that runs on 12 volts is not something I'm familiar with. On the hard wood we ground down on the pedestrian bridge, the M18 version performed better than I had anticipated. I also own a number of M12 tools, which are extremely powerful. I've got a couple of M12's. Aftermarket 9 AMP batteries that are reliable.
I had to use a tool adapter as well as a shop vac hose adapter.
There's a blade included in the package.
It does come with an adjustable fence that allows you to adjust the angle, but I haven't used it yet.

Unfortunately, the Milwaukee planer's aluminum base was too soft, and after only 10 passes on a maple wood face frame edge, it began to score and scratch. It was extremely difficult to push the wood along smoothly and achieve a satisfactory finish as a result of this. Even softer woods like pone or poplar would probably be too much for it. My 20-year-old Bosch, on the other hand, has a steel base that has never been scratched during its lifetime.
This planer is one of my favorites. I've used it for both rough and fine work, such as smoothing out rough cut 6x6 posts and removing a 1/16" from the side of a finished piece of wood. Even with gloves on, the adjustment knob is easy to grip, and the preset "stops" click into place and stay put. The discharge can be adjusted to the left or right, and the blades are razor-sharp and cut smoothly. It's a great tool that does exactly what it should, and I couldn't be happier with it.
I recently completed a remodel and used this for a variety of tasks, the majority of which involved planing doors. It's amazing how much of a difference going cordless makes! In addition, I mostly used the 2. There were no batteries, which worked fine for about three doors before running out. The smaller battery makes this tool easier to maneuver, so the amp sacrifice was worth it for most of my applications this time. My only criticism is that because the depth adjustment knob is located in an ergonomic location for a handle, it's difficult to resist grabbing it while operating the tool. Even after a few doors, I kept grabbing the dreaded adjustment knob whenever the tool was at an awkward angle and I needed a better grip. It's just one of those things with which you become accustomed. It would be helpful if the adjustment knob had a lock so that you could grab it without worrying about changing the depth accidentally. Anyway, I think this is a great tool that did an excellent job for me and paid for itself on this one job.

I've only used it a couple of times so far, but it's been excellent. There's a lot of punch here, and the finish is silky smooth. It consumes 5 amp hour batteries at a rapid rate, which is understandable. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> It's been a year or so, and I've had a lot of use out of it. It still works great, and contrary to what I read in another review, standard blades are compatible with this planer. It's also simple to change. This is an excellent resource.
The cordless power planner is an excellent woodworking tool. It drains the battery faster than any other cordless tool I've ever had. The ability to adjust for stock removal is a fantastic feature.
The lack of a cord on a planner is a significant disadvantage. It's incredible to be able to work on a piece without having to fiddle with cords. This machine also has a lot of torque. I'm not wasting time sanding the edge of a board that I just ripped on the table saw anymore.
This is an excellent tool. Small amounts of material can be shaved off quickly with this tool. It is simple to keep square and even cuts.
