The crate was so used that it needed to be thrown away

Printed in a cheap, blurry way, the Operators Manual is a cheap and blurry print job. No contact information is provided for warranty claims or any other issues. One of the wrenches (16mm) is the wrong size, it should be 17mm for example. This is a sign of how sloppy the assembly was. You can do decent work if you- I was able to find a YouTube video from England that shows the faults of this machine, notably the spindle wasn't machined properly. I contacted Amazon and they wouldn't tell me where I could get spare It seems they don't want anyone to know who to contact other than themselves, so they asked for a photo of any part I wanted. There should be a warranty or contact information in the parts list in the owner's manual. Because the gear train on the one I bought was not aligned adequately, I had to grind down the swing quadrant (about 3/32"). Having said all this, I still intend to keep the guitar. The product was manufactured and packed very poorly.

This is Sommers. During my 45 years of experience as a machinist, I have learned a great deal. In spite of my retirement, I still enjoy fixing things. Adding this mini lathe to my tools of the trade is a great idea. This is a very solid and well-built product. I love that the gears are metal instead of plastic. Some parts at the bottom of the shipping crate were broken after some use and the main board broke after some use

I had some trouble but the main company was helpful and worked with me to get things done. Dealing with Amazon was difficult, and I wish I could have dealt directly with the company. However, after a short time the main board failed again, and this item is not recommended. The store told me there were no refuns, and when I sought to purchase parts, they told me they don't sell any parts. I advise you not to deal with them.

For the money, this is a decent lathe

In terms of value, it is a decent lathe. Their electronic circuit board was faulty, which was a problem for me. As a result of my contact with the seller, they told me to remove the motherboard and have it fixed at a local electrical supply store. The issue with the motherboard led Amazon to send me a new one. I was also unable to buy a replacement belt that's the exact same size. I found one that worked but it slowed down the lathe because it had I purchased this lathe as a starter lathe to learn on and it is a great tool to learn My recommendation would be to deal with a company that is based in the US. If there are any replacement parts needed, it is much easier to get them from the US instead of waiting for them to arrive from.

This review will focus on the variable speed lathe

There were no visible damage to the package or anything contained within it. A lathe capable of cutting chrome can be found. The three materials I have tested so far are mild steel, chromoly, and aluminum. Although the surfaces of the harder metals are rough, some of that could be due to my tooling as well as my cutting speed. In spite of the fact that I have used it a lot, there has been some slop in the cross slide, but by adjusting the gibs I Other than that, it was fairly easy to move the machine from the crate. The only problem I have is a lacking tool rest. I will need to disassemble the cross slide in order to gain access to some Allen screws. Apart from a few loose screws, this lathe is an excellent machine. I think after some fine tuning I can run it to an accuracy of a thousandth of an inch in hard metals, with the possible exception of a few small scratches that can be removed.

The half nut is no longer dragging as a result of removing 060. The feed dial for the crosslide is missing a flat spring. The new one I made is from feeler gauges. I received 4 gears that the front panel chart says are critical to common threads, possibly I received doubles of whatever the packager had on hand. The manual states different gears for threads than the front cover chart. On the plus side, plenty of power and decent I have over 50 years of experience in machining now that I am.
