There is a 6" guard and side handle included with the machine
The guard came on the machine because my son told me to, and so I did. I'm not much of an expert on this machine. At this point, I am using four and a half cutting disks with no problem accessing my project. I did my first cut on this machine last weekend and was so impressed with the rpms and raw power of this machine. It is an absolute beast. I now think it is absolutely overkill for my little projects, but I have no regrets about getting it. It cut through rebar so well - you should see this machine in action A bit mindblowing, I must say.

With the power and the ability to fit up to a 6' wheel. Concrete, tiles, and refinishing are all things I have done Metals of all kinds, including bar. Make sure that your batteries are in good condition, and then the grinder will handle everything else!.
It's a bit more machine than I could ever use in my little shop, Metal is chewed up by this thing. Given how much power it contains, I didn't expect it to be as easy to use as it is. My strategy is to keep a ready supply of batteries available, and to take care of business as usual. I'm very pleased with how the performance went.
Despite the first one walking off the job site, I got the second one and it works great.
