I seem to recall that it was common practice to advertise one thing while delivering something else that was illegal. What's the name of that thing once more? Yes, you read that correctly: This is a classic case of bait and switch. br>br>Over the last two years, I've ordered several different grits and sizes from Amazon, and I've received about two-thirds of what I ordered. Three-quarters of my orders came in a yellow and white "Clayton Abrasives" box rather than a Mirka box. The mesh isn't well-cut, and some of it has oil stains on it. br>br>Amazon does a good job of replacing them, but what if the replacements are also knock-offs? items that are no longer in use? This has happened a few times in recent years as well. After three failed attempts on one order, the tech admitted there must be a problem with their supply and promised to notify management. My most recent order arrived today in a non-descriptive condition, so I guess they didn't get the message. Box of Mirka br>br>As for the product itself, the Mirka version is fantastic! The mesh is prone to tearing on sharp edges, which is inconvenient, but the dust collection and ease of attachment to your ROS are excellent. br>br>One thing to keep in mind is that no matter which sander you use, you should always use pad protectors. Between the mesh and the sanding pad, there are thin layers of protection. The mesh is fantastic, but many ROS' hooks appear to poke through and become worn down, eventually losing their ability to hold a piece of sandpaper. That's a big letdown, but it appears that great dust collection comes at a price. Even Festool's mesh sanding discs need to be used with a pad protector. Regardless, best of luck with your order. br>br> I like the product, but I need to find a more dependable way to get the real thing.
You can't use these things over a corner if you want them to last longer than three minutes. I use very little pressure atop my orbital, and if the woven fiber catches an edge, it tears and quickly spoils these discs. Because these tear up so easily, I seem to have about ten torn discs that I wrap around scrap wood for odd corners and sanding jobs. Furthermore, the non-tearing pads do not appear to last as long as they should. Mirka is supposed to be at the summit of the sanding mountain, but the quality isn't quite up to par. Diablo pads from Home Depot have given me far more success and longevity. bummer.
Very good sandpaper at a low price. These allow vacuums to pick up sanding dust far better than store-bought models, and they usually last two years. Longer by three times. If you're working on a sanding project, there are a few things you should keep in mind. Don't bother with these more than twice a year, but if you're a hobbyist or professional, they're essential.
For my Festool 6" sander, it works perfectly.
