Questions & Answers

12/2 Romex is proving difficult to strip. The sheathing does not appear to be completely cut by the cutter. Is there any way to make it work?

When stripping, make sure the straight cut portion of the tool is facing the discardable portion of the sheathing (in other words, the beveled portion is facing the remaining portion of the cable) and use a slight back and forth wrist action.

Is there a small tool that can be used to remove uf- b also?

Check out their website, but I don't believe that's the case.

Is there a distinction between nmb and nmd90?

The NMD90 is used to remove the jacket from Canadian NMD-style motorcycles. 90 Romex. Standard Romex is covered by the NMB model.

Are these 12-inch strips going to be successful? 3 or 14- It clearly states that it does not. Is it, however, effective?

Klein referred to this as "wear and tare" because the grips had become rusted and the grips had fallen out
3/5

This is something I bought for myself. I don't use it nearly as much as I used to. The grips on these two are slipping out all the time. Another thing that bothers me is that the blade appears to be rusted. I've had another one from a different manufacturer for years and have never had a problem with it. Klein Tools said they don't guarantee wear and tare when I called them today. The garage is where I keep my tools. So I'm not sure what they're talking about when they say "wear and tare" (rusted). Another point to consider is that Amazon is not an authorized dealer for them. As a result, we are unable to exchange products.

It's a great tool (for the price), but the packaging is the worst I've ever seen
4/5

You know how Amazon offers 'frustration-free' packaging for certain products? This tool, on the other hand, comes in packaging that could not be more diametrically opposed. It comes in one of those thermally sealed plastic packages that you have to open with a Sawzall and a lot of cursing. Okay, maybe not quite that bad, but a box cutter and possibly a sliced finger are definitely in order. Seriously, Klein, these aren't going to be sold in a store where anti-gun sentiment is a selling point. If shoplifting packaging is required, why not create a separate package for online retailers? br>br>Anyway, it chews through the off-brand packaging. brand NM- B from Home Depot with ease and does an excellent job stripping 12 and 14ga wire; I've seen some reviews mentioning grips falling off or jaws becoming misaligned, but I've not had that experience. Given that we're talking about a tool that costs in the mid-twenties, I'm not sure I'd be too upset if it broke after a year, but I understand the desire for it to be of high quality, bearing the Klein name and being made in the United States. I'd pay more for a higher-quality option if I thought it would benefit me more, but I haven't had any reason to do so thus far. If it fails or becomes annoying too soon, I will, of course, update the review.

Excellent performance and a lifetime warranty are included
5/5

The best part about it being a Klein is that if it stops working, you can take it to Home Depot and get a free replacement. There is no need to keep track of receipts. br>br>11 years ago, I bought another Klein wire stripper. I took it to Home Depot, where it was quickly replaced.

It appears to be a well-designed tool, and it looks very real to me
5/5

This tool was on the verge of being purchased by me. After reading the negative reviews about the cheap construction and falling off handles, as well as the suggestion that it was a knockoff, I decided to look for something else. But I really wanted this tool because I have a lot of wire to run and I needed a good tool to do it with. So, knowing how simple it had been in the past to return, I decided to try it. The tool was clearly Klein and came in packaging that stated it was made in the United States. I double-checked the handles and found them to be in good condition. There's no sip there, but it's a nice design and well-made. I'm keeping it because it's much better than many of my other tools; the blade is nice and sharp, and the tip is well constructed and in line. If I need to, I'll update this review, but for now, I'm pleased with my decision.

It's a good tool for a job I despise
4/5

Romex isn't my cup of tea. When I have the option, I prefer to use BX, but since I don't always have that option, I gave in to peer pressure and bought a romex stripper from a reputable hand tool manufacturer. br>br>It does what it says it will, which is to remove the plastic insulation from a piece of 12/2 or 14/2 romex without damaging the wire insulation beneath. On 12/3 or 10/3, it doesn't work as quickly, but with a little finesse, it'll get the job done. The built-in wire strippers do an excellent job of stripping your individual wires as well. I haven't used the screw cutters yet, but they look useful, and the ones on my regular wire strippers work well, so I'm guessing these will as well. br>br>The lock tab that keeps the jaws closed for storage is my only gripe. Perhaps it was just me, but as I pulled the strippers down the cable, my hand kept closing the lock. It's very inconvenient to have to release it half of the time while I'm at work. br>br>It's a useful tool, flaws and personal biases aside. These can and should be your primary strippers if you only work with 12 or 14 romex.

understand how to make proper use of them If you know how to use them, they're a fantastic tool that makes work a breeze
5/5

You're using the jaws incorrectly if they're bent or separated. Make the outer sheath sheathing cut, then engage the jaw lock while clamped down on the sheath in the cut position. DO NOT USE LIVE WIRES FOR THIS PROJECT. Pull the sheathing off with your fingers on both sides of the wire that is locked in the jaws. If you're removing the sheathing with the yellow handle part, be careful. You are putting too much effort into the tool, and it will be ruined as a result. You'll be surprised at how simple it is to remove the cut sheath. Thank you very much.

This is the one that I use
5/5

Now is the time to implement. I'm not sure what to say. This stuff is incredible. I have three other tools that I use, and when I first got these, I wasn't sure if I should keep them because they appear to be too thin and flimsy. However, this isn't the case. They're my go-to company. br> Now is the time to tool You can strip your Romex, strip the wires, twist and cut wires with it, and I could go on and on about how awesome these things are. I was able to get rid of three of my tools, allowing me to focus on this one and reduce the weight on my pouch. br>These are something I'd recommend to anyone.

Is this a fake product? Because it's a Klein, I thought it'd be a good tool for my son, who is an apprentice electrician
3/5

However, he claims that the cutting teeth are misaligned after only a few uses, preventing the tool from closing smoothly. So, since Amazon's 30-day warranty period had expired, I contacted Klein Tools directly to inquire about their warranty. KLEIN TOOLS DOES NOT SELL ON AMAZON, according to my sources. So, I'm not sure where these Klein-branded tools on Amazon's site came from, but if you buy them there, be aware that Klein Tools says they are not obligated to honor the warranty because they do not sell through Amazon.
