Questions & Answers

What type of springs are included in this set of pliers? The only ones that spring open are the two that I just received. ?

It is recommended that both the bent pliers and the straight pliers in the top left compartment be spring-assisted. Also, the two long handles (straight and bent) that are part of the very bottom compartment should be spring-assisted. If you want to find the spring loaded pliers in the photo (as well as in my personal set), look for the pliers that appear to be open. Thus, you need a total of 4 torx pliers with a spring load and 4 torx There is a difference between the pliers used to open internal snap rings and those used to open As such, "Rick's" answer below is incorrect if he has the same set within his possession. It is best for him to double-check his pliers. It is not fair for him to keep them when he should return I love it. It is my sincere hope that this will help.

The pliers are quite expensive, so why would anyone purchase them? This is because they are effective

To differentiate them from the standard product, which has external springs, box joints, and turned tips, these pliers have the word "precision" in their names. The spring wire tips on these pliers are adjustable, and the joints have internal springs. Tip changes are not possible because the tips are crimped in place. In the event you wear out your initial set of tips (hasn't happened to me yet), you have your $25 worth of use, so buy another set. On external ring pliers, the tips are angled outward, while on internal ring pliers, the tips are angled inward. feature is very useful since the clip will work its way toward the pliers when under tension and tend to stay on the pliers until the The feature is great. In this set, you can handle 3/8" (10 mm) to 2 3/8" (60 mm). You will need a separate pair of external pliers that can handle 1/8" (3mm) to 3/8" (10mm) if you are an R/C car enthusiast, airgun enthusiast or paintball gunsmith. If they did, Knipex would probably manufacture them, but thank the engineer in the sky they don't necessarily make 1/8 to 3/8 Internal snap rings. It might be a good idea to straighten out.

It's the same for all of them
3/5

A small electric motor, Electrical power equipment, a large meat slicer, and a drill press are some of the things I work on. There are no differences between all 8 hand tools in the KNIPEX set as far as minimum distances and tip sizes are concerned. Snap rings are typically small. The KNIPEX staff was kind enough to respond to my email asking which tool(s) I should purchase if I wanted It's been over two years since I last heard from you.

Rather than buying cheap crap, do yourself a favor and steer clear

Don't forget to get them! These were used once while servicing my Kubota's front axle, after which my old Craftsman set with removable tips went straight into the trash can. I believe the Craftsmen had the ability to do other things. A set of rings allows shafts up to 2 in. (51 mm). Okay, that makes sense! I tried several times, no matter what tip I used or the way I installed it, and there was no way to get the tips to go on, even after all the tips I tried and tried. After reading many reviews here and elsewhere that fixed-tipped pliers are the only way to go, I decided on this set of Knipex pliers. Those people are right, that's for sure. The fact that something will "snap" when you have the right tools is always fascinating to me, but it always seemed like "snap" had more to do with how it would fly away (if you even got there) than it did about how it would behave. The Knipex pliers made removing and reinstalling these retainer rings a piece of cake. To go a bit further with my cleanup and repair work, I even took others out to have a bit of fun with 'em. Although the pliers set has a stated upper range of 60mm, a retainer on one was located externally on a 70mm shaft and that was easily removed. There is an aspect of these that may not be obvious to a casual observer who's never seen them up close the way the working bit at the tip is angled outwards. The int is a ring and goes inward. A ring. I had removable tips before, but they were always pointing inward for the extensions. When opening the ring, the ring would slide off its tip before you could even open it. All I wish I had done 30 years ago was to purchase these. My headaches could have been avoided if I had taken the time to do so. If I had used these in the past I would never have giggled as I am sure to do whenever I use them now. My knowledge of that is solid.

These snap ring pliers are the best I have ever used out of the dozens I have tried
5/5

My farm is where I do most of our mechanic work, which is quite a bit of snap ring work. It is pretty hard to beat the name brand set my dad bought in college 45 years ago. We've also bought a huge variety of sets, including everything from cheap ones to name brand items to the same brand as our dad's We all get frustrated by the fact that most break after a couple of uses. Every time I use them, I'm amazed at how they just grasp the snap ring and don't slip. I have had these for a few months now and they're great. In addition to these, I'm going to purchase a second set of them.

It is not something I would buy Honestly, it is the first time I have been disappointed with There was a lack of machined precision in the tips This is a rather rough draft

To ensure that the ring does not slip off, they need to be angled. A number of times it failed to work I replaced the $10 pair with a $10 pair that were cheaper. It would cost me 1/4 of what it would for the Cornwell reversibles set.

The work is good

Interesting how even the tiniest things can make a tool either successful or unsuccessful. There have been a few snap ring pliers with changeable jaws that I have tried, but they are useless. The jaws are too flimsy and can't work properly. With the more solid pliers that you turn into outer snap rind by changing the way the handles are assembled, I've used the inner snap rind pliers. However, these pliers are made properly and work well. The pins in those pliers are not optimized for how they need to engage the snap ring, so they also have issues. These Knipex pliers are designed to work as designed and are made correctly. When I tested them on an item that I was having trouble with, they held and maneuvered the snap ring just fine. They are pricey, but the lack of frustration makes them well worth the price. They are spring loaded outside, but not inside. The loading might be nice if they were stacked close together, but it wouldn't be too big of a It's a good pair of pliers that is very effective.

Pliers inside the ring do not include a spring
3/5

Unfortunately, the jaws of the internal snap ring pliers do not have a spring to close them. Despite the fact that they claim to have an internal spring on their ring pliers, they do not specify whether they are spring-loaded.

Then buy these if you don't want to fuss with circlips, and you just want to put them on and take them off
5/5

The cost of these is high -- However, they do My experience has taught me there are two ways for snap rings to be removed It can happen easily or it can happen badly. The K&N system has been extremely difficult for me over the years I can replace it with - The tip of the I'm sure they will work someday. Recently, I had a painful circlip that caused me a great deal of trouble. There are two K&Ls I bought a pair of apparently better shoes because the Ds didn't go big enough Although they performed better than what we expected, they were still not good enough. When I was at the end of my rope, I opened my wallet to see Then it was over - they all arrived at once - The workers simply did their job. I must have been doing something else when the obstacle began to appear? Yes, of course. You don't have time to fight things you don't have to - Life is too short to deal with the unnecessary Just take out your wallet and buy these and you can put a stop to snap ring wars forever. Using them will bring you happiness each and every time. Sure enough, I.
