Questions & Answers

The threaded bracket needs to be attached to the plate in what way? I understand how to fit the (4) pegs into the (4) holes, but can't figure out how to secure the (2) pieces. ?

Could you please clarify whether or not the Hawk you received was defective. A bracket was attached firmly to the plate on mine. The washer held the handle in place, so I only had to screw that on. A bracket is soldered to the plate, according to my understanding. It is possible that they did a poor job of soldering yours and it came loose during shipping.

Even though the item is aluminum, is there a risk of rusting? My Marshalltown stainless steel trowels and edgers rust within minutes even though they are made of stainless steel?

It's never going to rust in aluminum. *br>Stainless steel is available in a lot of grades. While stainless steel is not rust proof, it is somewhat resistant to rust, and the amount of iron in the water also plays a part in the corrosion process.

The rivets are not flush with each other! There is a good overall feel to the product at a reasonable price
3/5

But the rivets holding the handle to the hawk do not lie flush, nor are they countersunk, but are protruding slightly and preventing tape from adhering perfectly to them. The only way I can fix it is to grind mine down a little bit since I do not want to hassle with returning the product, but this seems like a silly oversight that shouldn't have happened.

Getting rid of mud the right way
5/5

Hawks were something I had seen before, but I had never paid much attention to I then decided to give one a try. Two of the major benefits of a hawk are speed and accuracy. The first thing to note is I have issues holding a tray because of an old injury that affects my arm. By virtue of the angle of my wrists, holding a regular tray makes my arm sore and tired after holding it for a while. The hawk is much easier on my arm and I can work for longer at a time. While neither option is quite comfortable, you could say that the hawk is no more uncomfortable than the axe. As well as the foam on the handle, this hawk provides extra grip. The second thing I would like to touch on is It is much easier to scrape mud boogers off of a hawk since it is a simple flat surface. It is impossible for mud to hide in the inside corners of the box Using the hawk when you are working makes you more efficient, and there will be less downtime because cleaning the tools while you work and not just at the end of the day will allow you to mix the hot mud in the hawk. If you tried that on a hawk, you would fail. However, for premixed it is impossible to beat a hawk.

It's a necessity
5/5

As a general rule, it's a great tool for drywall taping and mudding. This is something we cannot do without. The mud can be held in the container at the right level. There is no need to second guess yourself.

It has a light weight and an easy to handle It's the first time I've tried a "hawk"
4/5

I've always used mud trays but wanted to try a different type of tray. There is a nice balance between the weight and the handle, and it doesn't pop out of the handle.

The newer pans are much better than the older ones
5/5

In the past, I had held mud in a 14" pan. As an alternative to using the pan, we tried this hawk. The handle makes it so much easier to use and you can fill it with more mud than a regular bucket. A comfortable handle and a lightweight hawk make this a great tool.

That was a wise purchase for me
5/5

This worked well for me when I bought the trowel, and I am not a professional drywaller. It took me a long time to get used to Hawk and Trowel, since I had never used them before. I continued to watch drywall videos on YouTube, and I was able to achieve a good result after I passed the learning curve.

Purchasing this product was 100% worth it due to its soft handle
5/5

Father's Day presents are the best. I bought my boyfriend a pair for his birthday. The man was in need of However, I needed one that was comfortable. Muck is very heavy because it is used in plaster or stucco. Because the handle is softer than the traditional wooden ones available at Home Depot, I was able to make the whole purchase worthwhile.
