Questions & Answers

Will a froe and this mallet get along?

Yes! Those mallets. will be able to strike almost anything without causing damage.

What is the procedure for obtaining one?

I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying. But what a fantastic tool! Because the mallet is so good, I never have to worry about it. I hope this information is useful!

I'm guessing this is a good froe mallet?

Yes, as long as you're not splitting firewood with a froe. It's not a sledge, but it's a fantastic mallet. I hope this has been of assistance.

For those of you who purchased it with the intention of using it with a froe, I'd love to hear how it holds up. thanks! ?

I've had it for three years and use it on a 2" timber framing chisel, and it's still going strong! I adore it! Rob LeMoyne is a writer who has written for a variety of publications.

Sturdy, powerful, and well-balanced
5/5

I'm a beginner woodworker/timber framer at best, with only one large project under my belt (our timber framed SIPs home) and a year of using this mallet almost every day. It looks almost brand new and has withstood a barrage of abuse. In my hands, the mallet feels very solid, and I like the way it balances. I thought nearly $50 for a mallet was insane at first, but its quality and utility have already more than compensated for the price; oddly enough, it is a quality tool, and the feel of it in my hand is just right!.

This mallet is absolutely amazing
5/5

As a leatherworker, I am constantly on the lookout for new and improved tools. This 30 oz bad boy has quickly become one of my favorite bench tools. Let's start with the handle, which has a perfect grip and is almost unbelievably silky smooth. Last night, my pricking irons did not leave a mark on the poly head. My old worn out poly mallet did a good job, but it's too light, so I had to beat my other tools with it repeatedly. The wood is good 30oz, so two light strikes and I was able to move on. Finally, the weight of this magnificent beast of a mallet allows for a lot of weight transfer. I'm ecstatic with this mallet, especially because it's made in the United States. It was less than $50, and it was the best money I've ever spent on tools. Thank you, wood, for creating such a wonderful product.

Without a doubt, the best mallet
5/5

Larger chisels require the 30 ounce Wood is Good mallet. The balance, ergonomics, materials, and craftsmanship all scream a tool designed to be used and last, and it's great to see companies like Wood is Good producing this level of tool right here in the United States. This mallet is slightly more expensive up front, but it pays off in terms of performance and durability when compared to the others. br>br>I use the 30 ounce primarily with 2" 2. For timber framing projects, we have 5" and large corner chisels. For these size chisels, I find it to be the ideal weight-to-force ratio.

Simplicity, Form, and Function are three things that come to mind when thinking about this design
5/5

It's not my first time writing a review. If you conduct a standard web search for "wood is good review," you will come across a number of professional, well-respected, and venerated authorities who all agree. I'm at a loss for words to express my admiration and support for this company and its mallets. This product line has been marketed as a cure for elbow pain, a great way to protect expensive or brittle tool handles, and the best solution for an apartment woodworker who wants to chop morises quietly. There's no end to the list. All of the mallets come with a lifetime guarantee and a track record that proves they are well worth the money. The compliments I've written here do not benefit me in any way. This simple tool is so useful that the time it took to write this was well worth it.

This is a very good mallet
5/5

This is a good-looking, well-made mallet with some weight to it. Even after a full day of use, it did not feel too heavy to me. It will strike the chisel butt with a powerful blow that will not harm it. The shock of the blow is dissipated by the plastic head, which relieves stress on your hand and arm. br>br>I haven't used it for a lot of fine work, but I have used it for some light chiseling and it worked fine; I used it to chisel mortises through a 10" walnut log and it worked better than my beech-handled chisel. mallet made of wood br>br>The head has some wear but is in no way damaged. I anticipate getting a lot of use out of this tool, and I'll probably go with one of the lighter models for smaller, more detailed jobs.

Be careful — it's not particularly heavy, but it's dense
5/5

The mallet is fantastic. Just be cautious when delivering persuasion blows. I did a pretty good job fitting the mortise and tenon on the corners of a workbench leg without paying much attention. It has a lot of weight. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's light. I know that sounds contradictory, but what I mean is that the urethane is hard enough to crush fibers and break sharp edges while not being too heavy to swing. br>For a mortise chisel, I've found it to be an excellent mallet!.

It has a good heft to it and is well-made
5/5

The heft is ideal for use with a froe; I used it to split hickory with a Gransfor Bruck froe, and it was more than up to the task. The construction is sturdy and well-made. I'm going to get some smaller ones for chisel work.

Indestructible to the point of being impossible to destroy
5/5

I've had this for a few years and have tried everything I can to break it, damage it, and hit things with it that I shouldn't, but it just laughs and keeps going. This is a fantastic device. It's not as precise as a brass-headed mallet for fine work, but it'll get the job done if you're doing timber framing and need to seat a tenon. It's always in my tool bag, and the lead shot adds a lot of weight. Just don't hit your hand with it, and if you want to know how I know, just ask me.
