Multiple blemishes were visible on the edge of the factory. I dropped the handle after picking it up for the first time because the pomel at the end was so loose. It is not necessary to fix either one of these issues, but it is possible to do so.
There is nothing I have ever paid eighty dollars for Previously, five bucks for a chisel was a big deal. Now it is absolutely worth it. Despite several years of trying, the door to our "back porch" has never been able to be It's just a small addition to the off grid home I built in 2010, and does not connect to the main building, only housing a propane fueled water heater and some corner shelves full of building supplies. There was a point where my wife gave me "the look. ". There was no point in ignoring it any longer. The problem was caused by a bit of settling after the structure was built, which resulted in a slightly crooked doorframe that jammed against the upper latch-frame. The doorway is at the left-hand corner. In normal circumstances, I would have simply shaved the door down a bit, but this door is metalclad. As a result, the wooden frame had to be shaved or planed down It was impossible for me to work an inside corner like that since I didn't own a tool. The hefty two inch wide Robert Sorby timber framing chisel did the job without any problem after it arrived from Amazon. It was easier (for me, at least) to use the beveled side down than the beveled side up when using a plane. You could easily take a healthy bite or not more than a coat of paint with that. It is designed to push like a power plane, not hammer like a wood chisel, but a mallet could be used if need be. In order to provide absolute control, I needed two hands, but I didn't need to use a mallet even when I was cutting As a result, the job was completed quickly and the door was closed correctly. All that needs to be done is to re-paint. The blade was done automatically out of the box, there was no need to tune it. My attempt at improving on the original edge could never be beaten by a smarter man.
As far as I can tell, there is only one drawback to it The Robert Sorby set ranging from one inch to three and three eighths inches in width has now become a coveted item for me, but my budget just won't allow me to afford.
There is a lot of weight to this big framing chisel. As well as 1 1/2", I have 1 3/4". With the 1 1/2", I get better results, as I can more easily control it. There is nothing to complain about with these sorby chisels. Their edges will last a lifetime, and their flat backs are a great advantage for heavy wood work. They arrive extremely sharp and flat, so chisel optimization does not take too much time.
There are some very minor nicks on the corners of the cutting edge of the chisel when I received it. I had to work on the stones for no longer than 10 minutes. I went through 210 A 1000-word summary The number 4000 There's no better way to do it than to shave sharply. I didn't have any problems with the job. Additionally, I now have the 3 3/8 inches slick and the 1 1/2" chisel on order.
He says it's a good chisel and is at ease with its performance. Unfortunately, the packaging is awful. The packaging of the two chisels caused one to be slightly damaged. They were placed inside a box that was too big and one piece of brown paper was in the box to prevent them from colliding. The plastic packaging of the chisels was not protected and the edges cut straight through. The edge of one chisel was dinged up and the handle of the other chisel was gouged.
I guess they used an 80 grit wheel to sharpen it when I got it because it was dull when I got I sharpened it after I bought it, and it works fine, I only use it on pine but the edge stays sharp, it's as good as my cheap Irwin, just a little heavier and bigger.
This chisel works great now, nice and heavy, with a good edge through.
If you had been close to one, that would be incredible. I am amazed. Despite its size and weight, it is very I like it so much that it's like my standard chisel and my jointer plane had a baby. A chisel like this can be used for applications where nothing else will The chisel's purpose is to cut food. With its great length, its handles make it much more convenient to hold steady than a regular There is nearly no need to worry about it when you fly. That's what makes it extra special. In the case of my chisel, it was obviously hand honed when it arrived. What a waste of time to do.
