Questions & Answers

Is there a space between the guard and the handle? or do they meet at the guard's end?

Yes, they are simply two pieces of forged steel riveted together with a strong brass pin.

What are the dimensions of the blade?

They aren't as long and aren't made of stainless steel. That caught me off guard. I was disappointed that I hadn't noticed that I was going to use them outside in a garden setting. The blades will probably be around 3 inches long.

Is it necessary to use any oil on these? If so, what type of oil are you using and how often are you using it?

It's been a few months since I got them. And I haven't had to lubricate them in a long time.

Is it possible that I was given a lemon? Prior to purchasing these scissors, I did some research
3/5

They seemed to be a good deal. However, as soon as they arrived, I noticed how close the tolerance between the two blades was. It's almost as if the center rivet isn't properly tightened. As a test, I tried cutting a small slice in a double sheet of paper, and instead of cutting, the paper folded and went in between the blades (I realize they aren't designed to cut paper, but any good bonsai scissors should have a tighter tolerance than these do). Also, and perhaps less importantly, the blade tips overlap significantly when fully closed, posing a minor safety hazard if you reach into a drawer blindly to retrieve these. Finally, the Japanese emblem on the handle appears to be a flaw rather than a deliberate design element. I initially mistook the scissors for a rock or something, but then I realized it was supposed to be an emblem. In the end, for the money, I'm not impressed. You'd be better off picking up any pair of scissors from your neighborhood hardware store.

There is no Made in Japan stamp, and the rivet is loose
3/5

It claims to be made in Japan, but there is no such mark. Does it make a difference? When the tips are closed, they extend quite far beyond the blades, exposing the blades. Furthermore, the rivet has some play in it, so while the tips are secure, the rest of the blades aren't. br>br>Overall, the size and weight are appropriate. It should say "made in Japan" if it is made in Japan.

I'm a little heavier than I thought I'd be
4/5

They're a little heavier than I expected. I'm a bud trimmer, so I need a pair of sharp, light-weight shears that I can use all day. However, they are extremely sharp; I'll learn more after a few more uses. I like the quality, but it's a little too heavy for me.

SHARP scissors that make super clean cuts with no bruising or crushing
5/5

This cutting scissor is extremely dangerously sharp. They have a rugged appearance and are simple to use, thanks to the large grips that can accommodate gloved hands. I adore the traditional Chinese scissor design, which allows for maximum leverage and grip while remaining elegant and fashionable. They're also fairly light in weight. br>br>However, because these are carbon steel scissors, you must be cautious of rust. They're also extremely pointed and sharp, so use caution when handling them. Due to the extremely sharp and pointed tip, as well as the fact that they have a slight over bite, these scissors can easily snag on anything, and the two cutting edges will overlap at the tip to ensure a clean cut.

These scissors appear to be well made and good value for the price
4/5

They are very sharp and come with a little lubricating oil to prevent rust. I returned them because they were not a good ergonomic fit in my hand. I make the following comments with the understanding that if these things are important to me, I should probably be willing to spend more money. They appear to be a little heavier than I expected; however, this gives them a sense of sturdiness. The blades are rather wide, which helps them get between close branches and other obstacles, but this adds to their sturdiness. They appear to be unbalanced due to their weight and poor fit for my hand. for a different (larger?) (size?) (size?) (size?) (size?) (size?) ) on the other hand, this may not be a problem, as they are suitable for heavier branches and other tasks. Despite the fact that they did not work for me, I gave them four stars because of the hassle-free return policy.

They Are Expensive, But Well Worth It
5/5

My second bonsai scissors are Wakashishi/Bonsai scissors MADE IN JAPAN 180mm by Wakashishi. I had a smaller, more delicate pair for the easier cuts, and they served me well for over 20 years because I have small hands. When my first pair vanished, I decided to give these a try. They were well-packaged and in great shape when they arrived. They're larger and heavier than my first bonsai scissors, but they're well balanced and simple to use for me. These are easier for my husband to use than the previous ones. They are the most razor-sharp scissors I've ever had. They're ideal for larger, older branches, and they're sharp enough to cut flower stems. They are my favorite. This is a fantastic purchase. (By the way, I found my old ones. ) I strongly suggest this product.

After the first use, I had to go back for an exchange
3/5

These bonsai scissors appear to be well-made. The cutting surfaces are razor-sharp, and the unit is light and portable. Holding it is pleasant. Unfortunately, the handles are held together by a rivet that does not allow for tightening. My scissors were extremely loose, and I had to exchange them. Because I value quality control, I am unable to give this item a 5-star rating. a rating of five stars Hopefully, the new scissors won't have the same issue.

Because I'm new to bonsai, I'm not sure which bonsai tools are valuable and of good quality
5/5

Quality, on the other hand, is something I'm used to recognizing when I see it and feel it. These are of excellent quality, and they arrived oiled in their original packaging. I was so impressed with the quality that I kept the package because I wanted to make sure I bought other bonsai tools from the same company. I can't read Japanese, so I completely forgot that I could track my order through it!.
