Some drainage mesh, such as Grow A Bonsai Tree's, has only two holes. 0mm to keep soil loss to a minimum while still allowing for drainage. As a result, a 1 is most likely what you're looking for. 1. wire of 5mm diameter 0mm or 2. 0mm is also a good option.
This is the indicator. It will work with any medium gauge. You don't want to use a gauge that is too thin because it will cut into the roots, and you don't want to use one that is too thick because it will be ineffective. I hope this has been of assistance.

This wire was purchased to wire a dogwood tree that I had to dig up from the ground and transplant into a large pot because it was unhappy in its current location. It is approximately six years old. It stands 6 feet tall with very straight but flexible branches. I just want to bend it a little to bring the branches to the front for the spring blooms. I've included photos of what I'm trying to accomplish, as well as a photo of a branch held in my little finger to demonstrate the branch's size, which is about 1/2 inch or less. The gauge of the wire is 2. Copper in color, 5 mm thick, and very bendable and workable. I'm new to bonsai, but I'm quickly falling in love with it. I've learned a lot from watching youtube videos on it, and I highly recommend it for learning because there are so many options. Back to the wire, everything was perfect, and the seller shipped quickly and at a reasonable price; thank you for your time, and I hope this was helpful.
I decided to order because I thought it was a good deal. It wasn't brown; instead, it was a dull but still gleaming copper. It was supposed to be 2 on the gauge. It was supposed to be zero, but it ended up being four. 5 or higher is required. I had no idea what to expect from Bonsai. Very let down. The packaging was attractive, in the form of a clear zip plastic bag. I went back to Amazon. Excellent customer service.
I'm just getting started, so I purchased a set with a variety of thicknesses. Only, it came to a halt at the thickness that was actually useful - this one! I needed to bend some branches to make them look wind-swept, and this method worked perfectly. I had to get rid of the old ones, which I'm glad I did. For branches thicker than a pencil, this method will work.
For some reason, the outside coating on this set of wires is cracking. I've ordered from this company before with no problems, but these don't appear to be of the same high quality. I can see flakes from the wire cables when I'm wrapping my bonsai. The quality isn't up to par.
I bought bonsai wire for a bonsai tree a while ago, but I ended up using it to hang my cork bark ferns on the wall instead. The wire has a lovely brown color to it. It appears to be in keeping with the rest of the room.
It's a good-quality finiah, and I like the brown color because it matches my tree nicely.
This is how young citrus trees are shaped using this method. The wire is simple to shape and maintains its shape. It's a good deal, and I'll buy it again if I run out.
(I won't have to order anything else for a few years!) It has a lovely copper finish and is sturdy while remaining flexible. This is a great way to train thicker branches.
