Questions & Answers

A desk I just painted for my daughter is ready to be sealed. How long will it take for the white chalk paint to turn ?

A yellow color will appear once painted wood is sealed with a top coat when the natural tannins in the wood start coming through. Primer is recommended to paint wood white with chalk paint, especially on bare wood or after sanding down the original top

Do you think this will turn the furniture yellow that has been chalk painted? To apply it, what do you use? It would be nice to have a flawless appearance. ?

Fortunately, my white chalkpainted furniture did not turn yellow when exposed to it. Rolling on two coats of paint with a small sponge roller was very simple for me. I really enjoyed working on it. Please read my review and look at the pictures for more details.

Do you think this would work over silver leaf imitation?

I am sorry, but that is not possible.

Four chairs and a painted kitchen table are on the way to me. Paint that is made of latex. It can't be sanded, so we need to protect it. Do I have to sand between coats when using this product. ?

There is no need for sanding with this product. In fact, you can put four or five coats on your table with this product without any issues. You should not try to reapply another layer before the first one has dried. Protects your house very well and you can install it in your home. It does not have a nasty smell because it is water-based. In fact, you could use Iver chalk paint instead of wax to seal it.

It was my first time using Varathane and I really liked it I refinished a large dining table and used the end-caps after I sanded and stained the top
5/5

This is a new favorite product. applied it with a disposable foam brush, and it left no marks at all as the strokes melted into one another. The application process was so easy that I ended up applying five coats, allowing time for each coat to dry. Having built and refinished furniture for many years, I have to say that this is now probably my favorite product. It just amazes me that we can achieve this level of satin finish with a product that doesn't contain any odor and doesn't require any water cleaning. Do yourself a favor and get.

The customer is extremely pleased with the product
5/5

It turned out so beautifully! I am so happy with the results. There are two of these dresses in my closet and I wanted to brighten up my room with them. First, I used Water-based white primer) and then one coat of chalk paint (Rustoleum linen white chalk paint). The dresser was painted using a brush (Brossum 2 in1 rounds chalk paint brush) and foam rollers (FoamPRI 65-102 5) 5 mini roller refills are on each drawer. It's MUCH better to have a foam roller look than one with a The brush strokes on the dresser are visible up close, but they're not as obvious from a distance. The drawers were also coated with a polycrylic (Varanthane crystal clear ultimate polyurethane, water-based) and the dresser was coated with wax (Retique It furniture in clear). prefer the look and feel of polycrylic and plan to replace my old sealant in the near future With that, we will only do the top portion of the dressers. To finish it off, I drilled holes and installed new handles. The length is 5" (5" hole center), the hole center is 5", and the hole center is 10-26.

It is a great finish for house projects
5/5

Painting our kitchen cabinets with Polyurethane was the final step in the process. It was a bit of a concern that the finished product might turn yellow since we used chalk paint, but the finish turned out absolutely amazing.

The white cabinets on my house look great with it
5/5

White Chalk Paint was used to paint the cabinets in my laundry room, and a Varathane clear satin polyurethane was applied to seal it. The product was applied with an Adam's Waxing Hex Grip Applicator in four coats. With each coat, I used a small brush to spread out any spots where the poly had pooled in the grooves of the cabinet doors. As a result, no yellowing will occur. It turned out great! I am so pleased with the results. Cleaning up is also quick and easy!.

The surface of the furniture is streaked with layer one (chalk paint)
4/5

A chalk painted cabinet was given a makeover with this product. In the beginning, I applied the first coat with a foam brush (as suggested on the I found that the formula was easy to apply and the smell was not overpowering. I was able to dry my coat after four hours, but it In spite of two light sands, the appearance is still very noticeable. I don't care how much elbow grease it takes to fix this, but it might require a new paint job (unhappy). In my case, I only painted the top as a test. I found the product to be easily removed from brushes and the container I poured it My wish would have been that it would have worked on the first try. The next brush I plan on trying will be a synthetic one I am pleased to report that I have been able to achieve a non-negative value After 2 heavy hand sands with a fine grain paper on the streaked finish, the top is streaked. a second coat of poly but this time with a synthetic brush of high quality. Following the drying process, I sanded with 400 grit again. As you can see in the photo where the finish isn't streaked, it received a third coat of polyurethane. Thus far, I have been pleased with this synthetic brush and am looking forward to completing the rest of my project with it.

I like it
5/5

There is a slight price premium for this over other 'polyacrylics' but man, this is well worth the money! For the first time, I used this polyacrylic top coat for protecting furniture I paint. I always top coat the paint with another polyacrylic but this was the first time I used it. dries very fast and feels like it has completely cured, it doesn't feel sticky or add any yellow hue like so many others do. Since the paint does not fade, it preserves the color of the paint as much as possible. Brush ridges are minimal in this area, so some sort of leveling must have occurred! The coating can be easily sanded between coats if necessary. It is important to mention that the clean-up is also done with water completely flawlessly in my opinion! I am highly satisfied with their services and they make my projects so much easier!.

The color yellow stands out to me! Keeping it short and sweet with just pros and cons will be my goal
3/5

To begin with, here are some pros Please note
It looks great with the satin finish - I think it is extremely durable, especially for a dining table. However, there are some cons Please note
The brush strokes are still evident to me even if I use a lightly touched hand, try a foam brush, then switch to a high-quality Sanding between coats seemed to help, so I did that as well. If you seal a wood, maybe you will not see them, however, I was sealing a light grey project. Please note
As a result of testing my paint in an inconspicuous location and it not turning yellow, I continued. I applied the It took me at least an hour to sand the area, and I still can see some yellow. I was extremely disappointed in the outcome. Perhaps I was a little more aggressive in that area and the reason it turned yellow is because of that. If you were going to try this, make sure that you applied the coat quite thinly. Because of the inconsistent nature of the product, I have given it a 2 star rating. I am not planning to repurchase.

Finish on the table is perfect
5/5

Amazing product! It has such a low smell that I finished the table inside my house (I have a large and very airy room that I finished the table in). Moreover, it dries very fast, so it is possible to complete even a large project in a single 2 quarts (I only had one can of paint and had to find an alternative solution to the table legs) is about right for my enormous table. I've been using it for 4 weeks and my kids have beaten it. The finish seems to have held up quite well. It is not damp or hot on the table because there are no sweating glasses or hot mugs sitting directly on it. Having just purchased the satin finish, I must say that it's silky smooth and beautiful. I loved how easy it was to clean up, and no stinky mineral spirits were.
