The first model I owned was an absolute piece of crap, so I may be biased in my review because this is only the second stud finder I've ever owned. I was anticipating the arrival of this little gem, which had reviews at best of 212, as the sun's rays shone when the clouds parted and I had a clear view of the sea. I found the price to be an enormous selling point, particularly after my first experience with stud finders, but although it doesn't always work perfectly, just follow the instructions (calibration is uber important before every scan) and you won't run into a problem. In my 60 plus years, I am a small, frail female who mounted her 42" TV on the wall (with help from a neighbor). The next project on my list will be building a wraparound curtain rod.

I am in love with this product. I agree with the reviewer that it is very easy to use and the modes are intuitive. I did have to read the instructions at first to figure out how to use it, so it's a little less easy then a simple stud finder you can get at home depot. I can vouch for the fact that you will definitely hit a home run with it being 100% accurate. This has been used to hang up a TV on to a wall, everything I can say is the TV is still hung up and has not fallen. The stud finder was a big help to me as I prefer to mount my TV into a stud rather than using The product all in all was a great buy, and I recommend it to everyone.

Anyone who says you should just follow the calibration instructions, I am afraid that either you have very different calibration instructions, or your device is very different from mine. I followed the calibration instructions very closely. There is still no use for this device. There are times when the studs aren't identified. Even when it finds studs, it does so at odd distances that clearly cannot be right. Furthermore, I have gone back and forth without ever breaking contact from the wall (so it does not need to be recalibrated), and it has identified studs in multiple places! No matter what purpose this device is used for, I would not trust it. The product is not something you should buy.

On the basis of the strong reviews, I decided to purchase this. tried it on a stud and it seemed to work fine. I decided to drill holes to attach a TV wall mount to the wall. The test was conducted on a known stud and it worked as expected. As I thought I'd be in for a race, I began to panic. As soon as I found my drilling locations, I proceeded to drill. Neither stud nor sheet rock was behind the vertical holes in two of them. Those were sheet rock holes. As before, I tested this more than a few times to make sure that the stud was where it should The readings I got after a few verification attempts were false for some reason. Holes have appeared in parts of my wall where I do not want them to appear. It was pretty disappointing.

The wall mount I used to hang my son's TV was made of this material. I was able to understand the instructions and the scanner had no trouble finding the stud and indicating its center. Mounting the TV was quick and easy, thanks to the two lag bolts I used.

It was personally recommended to me by a friend, and I'm glad I tried it! We found that it helped us to avoid metal pipes and studs when hanging There was short learning curve, but that was easily overcome.

I will say the unit seems to be not particularly durable, so you might want to look at other models if you're going back and forth from job sites or something like that.
