Questions & Answers

Could this blade be substituted in a combination square for a metal blade? Would you please give me some pointers on woodworking if I am a beginner?

I'm familiar with combination squares that typically have a channel running the length of the rule and that allows it to be set in place after it has been adjusted the way you would like when it is A channel like that does not exist in this rule.

Can you tell me what this rule's country of origin is?

A Japanese island. These rules are very good.

Is it really going to be long? Could you please add an extra round-off to your answer What's the purpose of a hanging hole on one end of the tab?

There's no hangie in this 000" An opening.

A wooden jig is what I intend to use this for. Is it possible to drill mounting holes through it using hardware store drill bits that are coated in titanium?

There isn't a lot of thickness to it. Measure in inches. The best bits to use would be carbide or titanium. It would be best to use a spring-loaded hammer In order to prevent the drill bit from wandering. You should also start with a low speed.

The ruler I finally got was a big deal to me
5/5

This ruler has been on my wishlist for a long time! was exactly 12" long, and allows me to make a measurement from left to right while another from right to left Turn the English/metric rulers around to see the metric scale when you are dealing with them. There is a major tick mark at the end of the metric side, but it is not at 300 mm, so an awareness of this is needed. There are 8 mm since it is about 3/16" and that is quite a I highly recommend this book!.

The Shinwa ruler is the best ruler to use if you need accuracy
5/5

The quality of these rulers is very high and they are dead on accurate. I've purchased multiples of both 6" and 12" and each one has been right on the money. They have no flex or bend in them, so they lay flat, making marking easier. They are thicker than the cheap Chinese / Indian-made levels available at your local woodworking store. They have a subtle finish no matter how bright the light is which makes them very nice in bright light, and should hold up for many years.

It's nice that the rule is all metric, but I wish it was always that way
5/5

It is like the other Shinwa rules I own it has good size square ends on both ends and metric graduations. I would have preferred a metric rule with no graduations, but this was the best I could do in a rule with There is at least one side with the english graduations, and the other side has the metric graduations. Easily grip the 300mm rule with one hand and hang it with the other with a hanging hole. There is only one metric 300mm rule from Shinwa. The fascination with rounded corners also seems to be a hallmark of other manufacturers There are end rules and hanging holes which I am not understanding. From where I am starting, I want to be able to register both ends of my rule and that's why I need two squares.

It's the best 12" ruler you can get
5/5

Rigid and durable, this ruler provides accurate measurements. With inch markings on one side and metric markings on the other side, it is very clear to read. On one edge of the inch side you will see 32nds markings and on the other you will see 64ths markings. Among other markings, the metric side features a 1 mm mark on one edge and a 2 mm mark on the other. The other edge is marked with 5mm markings. When I try to get a specific reading, this is my favorite style since it requires less awkwardness. While I have other rulers that appear to be of the same quality, they usually print the same thing on both sides, making good measurements more difficult.

I've never seen a ruler as beautiful as this one
5/5

It is a joy to work with this ruler. This instrument feels like a precision instrument because of its finish, easily readable markings, and superb feel. Including the ends, all the edges look like they have been precise ground, so they are square and true on every side. Accordingly, it is designed in the style of a machine way. This is not something I would recommend for kids or anyone thinking they can throw this in a back pack. There is no thought put into the corners of this design for safety or comfort, and that's not what the designer intended. Don't throw away the plastic sheath that it comes with, otherwise, if you put it in a bag with other items, the corners will catch and tear Once again, precision is the most important aspect of this design. It's safe to say that you will fall in love with this ruler if that's your love language.

To work with wood, you need precision
5/5

As far as I'm concerned, this is a very high quality ruler that has now become my standard The ruler provides both 1/32-inch and 1/64-inch measurements, which makes it an ideal tool for calculating woodworking cuts. If you're interested in splitting atoms, as I sometimes am, it provides both 1/64th of an inch-half an inch There are gradations of 1 inch. Likewise, there is only a mental challenge in converting these fine measures to some of the more traditional The practice becomes second nature after some time. A machine shop square ruler was benchmarked against the ruler, and all lines are within 1 mil. As the numbers on the rule are small, the fine gradations are difficult to distinguish. The two years on my age are worth something, so I put them on. For very fine measurements, 5 out of 5.

When the sleeve is not important to you, this is a good ruler
3/5

Unfortunately, this sleeve is so heavily taped with stickers and glued tape of some kind, that I am unable to salvage it if I don't nearly destroy it. If that is the case, then it cannot be used. Clearly, this is a very disappointing situation. It would have been nice to have contacted the seller directly to request a clean replacement sleeve, but I could not find any contact information. As a result, if the seller disregards this feedback, I'll just return the ruler and order another brand. While this rating would have been five stars if the sleeve had not been important to me, it was a four star rating nonetheless.

There is none better than these rulers on this planet! The product is actually made by Japanese craftsmen! Purchasing this product is the best decision you have ever made, these are the best rulers you will ever own, if you're thinking about purchasing this, don't wait, buy it now! Do not purchase another set of rulers instead, get Heavy duty and not too heavy, they are for professionals and engineers alike, but still reasonably priced enough to make them useful every day
5/5

One can take some 400/600 grit sandpaper and sand away the edge corner that is an issue. Do not say they have sharp edges, they are extremely precise. This is the kind of thing that real craftsmen will love, nothing else like it. You should treat yourself!.
