I would expect the ID to be a bit smaller than the OD. The coupling or nip is threaded so that it fits into a 3/4" standard pipe coupling. It's always the ID measurement that's indicated by the size.

This is the vertical distance from the top of the fan to the ceiling cover (hanging point). Downrod is included and has a drop of 2", with a total of 10".

I bought a Honeywell fan from Amazon and it recommended this down rod extension It was necessary to modify the rod so that the fan could fit. The rod is drilled with two holes sideways that are supposed to hold the locking pins. To align one of the pin holes with the hole in the fan, it is just a little too far from one of the pin holes to the end of the rod. It was necessary for me to grind down the end of the rod in order to line up the holes.
