Before ordering, make sure the toilet seat holes are in the right place. I discovered that the Carex bolts were too wide for the mounting holes on my toilet seat when installing the first of the two risers I ordered. There is a half inch gap in the mounting holes, so the bolts are 3/8". I think it would be dangerous to drill out to 3/8" through the plastic inserts in the mounting tabs on the seat. While checking several hardware stores and looking online, I was not able to find 1/4" long bolts of the equivalent. It would have been riskier to use threaded rods that were 6" x 1/4", but I chose to use them anyways There is a possibility that the top nut will break and they will fall off. The item cannot be returned if you order it, so make sure to check before you order.

I hope people are not considering these without the hinge design for the love of God. that I almost bought the cheaper fixed design because it can't be cleaned without it being unscrewed, but oh well. This is mine. I guess they were right that said don't. Under it should be able to be lifted up and cleaned easily. There is no way you would think that stuff could get under the rim except if you deliberately aimed for it.
