A bit of water splashes under a gap between the tub and the door as well, as has been noted by others. The situation is not tragic, but it is annoying enough that it is worth mentioning. To solve the problem, I cut down a piece of PVC lumber (used for outdoor window trim, etc. ) on my tablesaw to the width of the door track and about 1/4 inches longer than the track. A silicon band of 5/16 inch thickness is attached to the tub using silicone. In the tub, it is flush with the door and reduces the gap between the tub and the door by about one sixteenth I can open and close the door as if it wasn't even there, and no water seeps through. I dislike it when people focus on the packaging because it is not the product. That being said, I am amazed at how the shower doors didn't get damaged when the box for the packaging was torn to pieces and the product was hanging out. It is a blessing to have a retired Navy flight engineer and handyman extraordinaire as my husband is otherwise, I imagine that in the middle of this project we would have had to hire professionals to find out all of these incorrect With all of that in mind, the shower doors after a day and a half of work look fantastic and we look forward to seeing how they will withstand use. There is one thing to note the roller assembly is cheap cheap cheap and it holds all of the weight for the shower doors which are very heavy, but on the towel bars, you could hang a hemi engine.
The box was somewhat tattered upon arrival, however, the item was well packaged and wasn't damaged in any way. It was relatively easy to install, and it looks great once it is done. There was such a tight fit that I removed one towel bar and replaced it with two brushed stainless knobs to provide a bit more elbow room in the shower area. The lower track doesn't rise very high, which will let some water drain out of the tub area and end up on the floor. Other users have also stated that the lower track is a bit low. It is not clear why the lower track (about 1/2" high) cannot be made a little taller so that this problem won't happen. Aside from the door arriving in terrible shape, there were two additional problems. In spite of the fact that it is the responsibility of the shipping company to pack the product well en route, the door was not well packed and there were some damages. As the tub slopes up the wall, we realized during installation that the plastic corner pieces would not be able to be filed to match the tub's frame. This door set is the only set I've come across that cannot be filed to fit each individual tub, because every tub has a slight curve where it meets the wall. In the end, we purchased another door from the next series, one that had a frame attached. In my review of the first door, I found that the instructions came with all measurements, so you could calculate the measurements for fitting it. No measurements were included in the instructions for the second door. During the actual process of making the frame, we used the pieces that were included that we would not be using. It was frustrating, but we were happy with the outcome in the end. It is beautiful and very easy to install, but the installation process is very challenging.
I am a hobbyist handyman so it was a little difficult for me to install. It is too short or too low for the lower rail or deflector to prevent water from leaking. There were a few modifications which required that I go to the bathroom shop to purchase a higher and bigger lower rail and place it over the shorter or original I needed to go the extra mile to fix the inadequate lower rail in addition to the fix on the upper.
As an example, here are pictures of the before and after images of the remodeled tub/shower area so you can see how great it looks with the sliding door. Due to horizontal and vertical adjustments needed to fit this opening, it had to be professionally installed. installers did an excellent job and the whole job took them (two people) around 2. 5 hours to complete. Both doors slide, which is great because I thought one I appreciated the fast and excellent shipping, as well as the inclusion of all the hardware. The product is wonderful! I am happy with it.
