The back of the sink is open where the faucet goes through, but you don't really notice it unless you lean over to look at the back of the sink. We purchased four of them to use in a house we are constructing. When the pictures are ready, I'll post them.

The sink is absolutely incredible. They're three times the price on HD. Although the glaze may be superior, I would rather save money and use SoftScrub.
