That's exactly what I did with it. It's a lot more durable than the smaller latch from the big box store.
Yes, it does, and I've got it on two different types of barn doors. One is for two doors, and it neatly closes them. The other is a single barn door, which is attached to the wall by a hook. The hook looks good and works well with both types of doors.
It looks great on my inswinging garage door, which I installed. My free second one is still on the way. I put my faith in them to deliver it, and I am confident that they will.

I didn't expect it to be as thick as it is, but I like it. I assumed I was getting the thin locks, but I'm glad I got this one instead. Kids can't get into the pantry because it's so strong and sturdy!.
It's a great product, but it's only worth half of what's being asked for. According to the package, if you submit a (positive) review and prove it, you will receive a free second one. As a result, unless you accept their offer, you'll be paying for two and getting one. This is something I dislike in a product. It makes me feel like I was duped into paying for two but only receiving one.
She didn't ask for assistance with installation, and it has performed admirably thus far.
Perfect! I have no prior experience with any type of handiwork, and despite the fact that others had stated how simple the installation is, I was still concerned that I would need to use a drill. It only took a few minutes and a screwdriver to make it perfectly fit all of my requirements. Hello, personal space!.
Our barn door was originally installed to keep nosy pets out of our den's new furniture. Our cat only took about two minutes to figure out that he could push the door open and sneak inside; if it hadn't been for the cat, the dog would still be staring at the new door. They came in, however, and were discovered lounging on the new sofa. This is why we are unable to enjoy pleasant experiences. br>br>A quick Amazon search for barn door latches led me to this specific item, which is exactly what we needed. It's tough and well-made, with a nice finish and a quick installation. We mounted the latch hook on the end of the door and the latch "eye" on the adjacent wall because of the offset between the barn door and the wall. It looks fantastic and performs flawlessly. Now the cat just stares at us as it tries in vain to open the latched door. The dog simply stands there staring at the door. The furniture is in good hands! Victory!.
I agree with everything that has been said in the other reviews. It is, without a doubt, the ideal hook. I bought it so that our sliding barn door to the bathroom could have an inside latch. Unfortunately, after installing it, I discovered it would not work (my own fault for not noticing this would be an issue beforehand) because the "eye" part of the hook (the part attached to the door) stuck out just far enough to scrape against the wall when the door was opened. Darn. Even if the hook was flipped The problem would still exist if you used eyepieces. Regardless, it's a fantastic piece of equipment that I'll keep for another purpose. If you're going to use this as an inside latch/lock, make sure there's enough space between your door and the wall (when the door is open).
We moved into a house earlier this year with a hallway closet with a sliding barn door. The dog food bins are kept at the bottom of that closet, and the shelves are a jumble of other miscellaneous items. Our dogs figured out how to use their noses to push the door open so they could stare at their food bins, but they were rude enough not to close the door when they were finished, so that closet was always open, which drove me crazy. We bought this latch, and my husband installed it quickly and easily. It has a very nice appearance and performs admirably. It has a heavy feel to it. The dogs are still trying to open the door, but it is now firmly shut. Victory!.
