This is much more solidly built than I anticipated, and I adore the quality and appearance. This item was purchased to secure a pocket door. It does a fantastic job of keeping our pocket door closed.
We used it in our bathroom and there was no rust. They are exactly what I was looking for, and they are far superior to the cheap hook and eyes you see all the time.
It's substantial and has a lovely finish. I bought a bunch of these to go with our custom-made furniture. Heavy barn doors were installed, and they're exactly what I was looking for. In the hand, they're quite heavy.
Although I am not an expert, I believe it is possible. The thickness of the metal and the amount of force applied to the screw would both play a role. Although the hardware is thick and substantial, and the product is advertised as "heavy duty," they will most likely be attached to wood and will not come out under normal circumstances. They're not too expensive and they look nice, so I'd give it a shot and attach it to the wall like you would with wood. Drill pilot holes before inserting the screws.

In the fall of 2020, my 16-year-old Amish-built yard barn required repair. repaint, new roof, and securing the small Dutch Door on the front of the yard barn (which looks like a playhouse) were all on the agenda. That tiny door's handle/latch was barely working - It still looks great, but it's made of high-quality metal, and I'm not sure how it got damaged, but using the stainless black hook and eye on the interior keeps the door closed easily - and can be accessed through the large double entry doors on the barn's side.
With this, I doubt you'd be able to keep a barn door shut. It is, however, a substantial and heavy fastener. This would be ideal for indoor use, such as on a screen or front door. It also has a nice finish and a decent appearance. It was used to fix a warped interior door that couldn't be latched any longer. It was a quick fix to keep my dogs out of the room until I could get a new door installed. Installing it was a breeze. It took me about ten minutes to complete.
These are incredibly durable and attractive. Much better than I had anticipated. It's not like they're made of flimsy wire. If someone were to kick the door in, I believe they would be extremely difficult to break through. I used them as privacy locks in my bedroom and bathroom, but they are overkill for that purpose. They look great and go well with my oiled bronze door knobs.
The anchors are missing, and the install screws are too short. The item itself is robust and long-lasting. It did, however, pull the meager little screws right out after about four uses.
I bought these to keep "toddlers" out of my interior doors who have figured out how to "bypass" every other locking system I've tried. So far, they've been successful (until they figure out how to get high enough to unlatch them). Because I'm using them on interior hollow core doors, I used machine bolts and nuts instead of the included screws to go all the way through the doors, then 2. 5" screws are inserted into the jamb/frame members.
This is ideal because I needed to replace the lock on a folding bathroom door. This was the ideal answer. It's sturdy, looks good, and was simple to put together for a non-skilled person. I'm a handywoman, so I can install it. The second one will be installed on my backyard gate.
I used these on my office door because it's directly behind my desk, and with everyone home for MONTHS at a time, having a door behind me got old fast. D They look great, match my handle hardware, and were a good price. A+.
It was an excellent solution. The screws, on the other hand, are smaller, and the screw head must be handled with care. They become messed up as you screw harder. They also have precisely the right number of screws. I wish there were a few more screws in the package.
