Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with the Larson storm doors?

This is a threshold extension piece for the main exterior door. I had a Larson storm door installed with a threshold that needed to fit beneath it, and this extension worked perfectly.

Is it possible to install this on an existing door?

Yes, it was simple to install on my already-installed storm door. It took a rubber mallet to get it in place, but it worked out fine.

Is it possible that this will work with Thermatru doors?

This is dependent on the type of door and threshold you have. It's made for M-level students. Models 78961, 76265, 78600, and 49008 are D thresholds.

Is it possible that this will not fit on a Masonite door?

This is a door threshold; it does not fit. To make your existing threshold wider, you place it next to it. When I installed a storm door, I made sure there was no gap between the bottom of the door and the entryway. I hope this has been of assistance.

THIS IS ESSENTIAL
5/5

Local retailers have a hard time finding these. Since about 1980, every house built in North America has had 6 inch wall studs, but all of the doors available at retail are for 4 inch studs; extension kits are available, but they do not include this threshold piece. A $200 four-inch door can be ordered in a six-inch version for $1200, which is ridiculous. As a result, this article is the answer. New home builders appear to have no trouble finding them, but people like me who replaced a sliding glass door with a real door can only get them from Amazon. Thank you so much, Amazon.

Extremely difficult to install on a door that is laying on the floor because of the tight fit
4/5

I could have purchased this exact same item from Home Depot for half the price if I had waited two weeks. It arrived in perfect condition, wrapped in bubble wrap and cardboard, but it was scuffed when I opened it. up to date and notated It was extremely difficult to install because it refused to lock when I tried to snap it into place on the existing threshold. To get it to snap, I had to pound it with my fist. When I tried to lock it by simply twisting it, it bent the existing threshold out of place. So, after several attempts, I finally got it close and simply smacked it with my fist a few times until I heard it click.

For a new storm door, this is a fantastic solution
5/5

I'm not sure what brand of threshold I have, but I took a chance on this and it fits perfectly. I had to remove the storm door and frame completely to avoid cutting notches in the extension, but it was well worth it for the clean installation. Because there isn't much flat metal on the bottom of the extension sill, I was concerned about adhesion, but I used Gorilla Max Strength construction adhesive and weighted it down for 24 hours, and it's now rock solid. I still need to caulk the edges, but the product and results are fantastic! It's been raining for two days, so please excuse the filthy photos.

It's a pain to put together
3/5

This item is of poor quality and is difficult to set up. There are no installation instructions anywhere on the company's website. After about 45 minutes of trying various options, the only way we could get it to snap together was to flip it over and squeeze it incrementally along the back with pliers. I'm not sure how you'd go about adding this to a pre-existing threshold. Our method, on the other hand, chewed up the backside. Even though it is hidden once installed, it is still inconvenient. A disappointment in terms of quality. After installation, it was fine, but the installation issues caused me to give it a low rating.

I was able to get it to work
4/5

I had intended to reuse the old one, but it was slightly different and wouldn't fit through the threshold. They are not available at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Menards. I paid a visit to the M- The correct part can be found on D's website. It was cheaper at Home Depot, but I needed it right away. br>br>My only complaint was that it was about a quarter inch shorter than the M-series. It was snapped into a D threshold. Snapping it in takes a little effort. That, I'm guessing, is on purpose. You won't be able to get it out once it's been snapped in.

Extending a threshold in a simple way
5/5

I needed to extend the threshold of my side door to fit under a storm door I had installed, and this was the ideal solution. I'm not sure why some people complained about how difficult it was to set up. It was extremely simple for me to figure out. Simply cut to length, and the "curled" edge fits neatly into the pre-cut slot. existing. I just came in with a jolt. Just make sure you measure your threshold first, because you'll need something to support it underneath.

Jeld-Wen (Extended) Aluminum sill manufactured by Wen
5/5

Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Jeld- I used a Jeld-Wen standard-width door and added a Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Jeld Wen jamb extension kit is a kit that allows you to extend the length of your jambs. Unfortunately, the kit's sill extender was only 29", so I ordered this 36" extender. It was the perfect fit. There's no need to slide in from the side like the Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Jeld-Wen Wen extension, which can be installed while the door is still in place - Simply place this extender in front of any jamb extensions.

For that purpose, it is ideal
5/5

This was installed to extend the threshold after a storm door was installed. For that purpose, it is ideal. I simply caulked the concrete on the front porch ahead of the existing threshold with gorilla clear caulking. I've had it for a few months and everything is working fine; it mostly closes the gap between the storm door and the threshold, and with the addition of some foam insulation on the sides, it keeps dust and bugs out.
