We're sorry, but the bolt requires a 36" rod, which we don't have.

When installed at the top of the door, does the bolt stay in the locked position if the door is rattled?

In a hardware store, it's difficult to come by

French door latches are difficult to come by. I used this to replace a latch on my metal french door style security screen doors. The rod was too short, so I used the one from my broken latch and it worked perfectly!br>br>I used this to replace a latch on my metal french door style security screen doors. This latch application was a bit of a pain to install, but that is due to the security door itself, not the latch. It's fantastic once it's up and running! br>br>Anyone who has replaced these types of latches knows that, depending on the type of door, they are not the easiest to replace.

This is a great solid product that effectively keeps your inactive door secured, though installation can be difficult

Install is simple if you're replacing an old door lock, but it can be difficult if you're installing into a new door. I used a 3/4 straight cut Diablo bit with my router that had an edge guide. Doing this by hand wasn't perfect, so I had to fill in a few edges with wood filler. It would have been nice if they had included an aluminum router jig or something similar to make the installation process go more smoothly. If you're new to woodworking like me, just be aware of this installation issue. Overall, the product does what it's supposed to do and, more importantly, it's not visible when the door is shut, which was the goal.

The lock isn't made of solid brass

For the intended use, it appears to be 'workable. ' The item is described as being made of solid brass. That isn't at all correct. All of the components are made of strong metal. with the exception of the faceplate. The faceplate is made of a thin metal gauge. It would have been nice if a template for mortising out the door had been included. br>br>Overall, it does the job well for a reasonable price; however, I would pay an extra buck or two for a thicker faceplate. A template, particularly for the rounded end, would be a welcome addition.

EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED! Since the company went out of business, the hardware store informed me that this piece would be impossible to find and recommended that I purchase a new set of french doors! Screw that, and THANK YOU, AMAZON, for having the exact perfect fit part! You won't even notice it's a replacement once it's installed!

My old bolts were bent, and the springs were no longer functional. This size is no longer available, so my French doors will have to be replaced. When I discovered these, I was overjoyed. It's extremely simple to set up.
