No, unless new mounting holes are drilled in the door edge, the metal part cannot be adjusted vertically. The square hole that the door latch catches, on the other hand, is nearly twice the size of a standard door latch tongue. If the metal part is installed so that the door latch tongue is approximately in the center of the metal part square opening, there will be about 1/4" of "play" for the door to move up and down while still latching closed.
3" x 1" is the size of the strike plate (metal part). 1/8". The assembly's overall dimensions are 3-inches by 3-inches by 3-inches by 3-inches by 3/4" x 1- 1/2"
Yes. You'll notice that the color is very similar to oil-based paint. bronze oxidation
On the fix a latch, the latch hole is larger, allowing the latch to fit more comfortably inside. Mine was a little lower than the existing latch hole, but it now works perfectly. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed! 🙂

The soil is a heavy clay, which causes the house to shift enough that the doors don't latch on a regular basis. I'd move the plate and then they wouldn't latch when the house moved back (seasonal). I bought a pack of these at a hardware store and they're so good that I ordered two more on Amazon. Some have been in for a few years and are still as good as new. They haven't tarnished as I had expected.
its okay. If it fits your door, it appears to be a great idea. My strike was slightly off, and it wasn't always catching the strike plate, or it did and then released itself. The product's flaw was that it had a plastic lip on the inside that grabbed the door jam and held it in place. The problem was that once I put it on, the door was loose when closed, but it lost an 1/8" when closed. Solution? Remove the metal strike plate's plastic backing, align it, and screw it in place. Then it worked fine; it's not perfect, but you'll have to fiddle with it a little to get it to work.
This was one of the quickest repairs I'd ever completed. The door is now properly closing. It took me only a few minutes to complete. The extra long rectangular hole accommodates future shifts, the mounting holes are further away from existing mounting holes, and the plastic covers existing chisel adjustments are all nice features of this strike plate. It would be great if they made one for a deadbolt.
It has two plates, which I really like. One is for an interior door, while the other is for an exterior door. I used both of them. Each installation took about a minute. The thickness was not an issue for me, and the doors did not rub against it. br>br>The screw holes have been relocated, which is exactly what you need when changing a strike plate, and the latch hole has been made larger, which solves the issue. Perfect!.
The area where the latch slides over the frame has broken out, preventing the door from latching. Nothing worked, even though I tried wood fill and other things. saw this. Installation is simple and secure, thanks to the use of long screws. WORKS! It's not something you'd use on a main outside door, but it's perfect for this one. I'd purchase it again.
We had a few doors that weren't latching properly, so I purchased these, and WHAMMO! It fits perfectly. br>We have a Great Dane puppy who hates it when the bathroom door is closed, and ours was not latching. We did, however, install Fix- No more flying open doors with the latch in place! I used these on all of the doors that weren't closing properly. br>AND IT'S AT A REASONABLE PRICE! The prices at the big-box stores are significantly higher. br>br>Highly recommended, simple to set up, and very satisfied.
Unless your house is brand new and all of your occupants are super careful all of the time - unless your house is brand new and all of your occupants are super careful all of the time - unless your house is brand new and all of your occupants are super careful all of the time - unless your house is brand new and all of your occupants are super careful all of the time You'll almost certainly have a problem with the door latch. Thank goodness for this product!.
It was a success. The previous occupant of the apartment did not know how to properly install a door knob and striker plate, as a result of which the plate was misaligned and the door did not latch. The new latch's hole spacing was just right to avoid hitting the old ones while also giving me plenty of room to experiment.
