The screw holes are spaced 2 3/4" apart horizontally and 1" apart vertically.
This is a lock for use on the inside of a building. I'm not sure why it would be used outside of a door if it could be unlocked. Yes, it will rust if left outside for an extended period of time.
It's a tad longer than usual. About 5- 6 inches
Please exercise caution. China is where it all started.

After two weeks, the toddler had finally broken it. I was hoping for something a little more. I didn't expect it to be expensive, and I didn't expect it to work flawlessly, but I did expect it to last longer. This was purchased for my swinging front door. My toddler has a habit of opening the door and running out of the house, so I needed a gain to prevent him from doing so. I couldn't leave him alone in the room for more than a second because he'd rush for the door. For about two weeks, this gave me peace of mind, but then he broke it by pushing the door open far enough that the chain snapped. Maybe it wasn't designed to withstand a toddler attempting to force the door open, but I had hoped it would last a little longer. As I previously stated, it only lasted two weeks before I had to purchase a more expensive and durable one, which I should have purchased sooner. If you're using it to keep your toddler in, don't waste your money; instead, get something more durable. I doubt it would work well enough to keep an intruder out, so go get a better one.
year old! My 3-year-old daughter broke the chain. The door was slammed shut so quickly by a 12-year-old that the quality was seriously questioned. br>br>I attempted to contact the manufacturer for a replacement, but it kept redirecting me to voicemail. They attempted to contact me again, but I was unavailable. There is no other way to contact them than to call them, and if you're as busy as I am, good luck with that!.
To begin with, the product did not match the image. If you look closely at my photo, you'll notice that the wall is bare. The holes in the side brackets differ. Second, and most importantly, when my 2-year-old attempted to slide the door open for the first time, she bent out the bracket. If I didn't already have holes drilled in my wall for it, I would return it.
It's a fantastic lock, to be sure. This was purchased for the front door of my mobile home. My toddler kept trying to get away, and the deadbolt was within her reach, so I used this as a backup. It performs as expected. Everything you need to get started was included in the box. In addition, the cost is reasonable.
Thefts have occurred from our back yard, as well as attempts to break into the house, but the back door has always opened out rather than in. In the event of a lock pick, we weren't sure what kind of secondary security to use. This chain was the perfect length and is extremely durable. Nobody's going to get in the way of that. Furthermore, the door does not open wide enough from the outside to allow anything to cut the chain (as shown in the first photo). br>Because we have steel reinforced doors, I used a tiny metal drill bit on my hammer drill to install. The screws that came with the chain worked perfectly after that, and the finish matched the rest of my brushed nickel hardware. I'm very pleased.
I installed the lock only to discover that the chain lock barely fits inside the groove on the bracket it's supposed to lock into, and that the chain lock does not fit inside the hole that's supposed to keep the chain out of the way when it's unlocked. You're supposed to be able to hang the chain in a hole attached to it once you've unlocked it. Because the hole is so small, you won't be able to use it. As you can see, the hole is quite small, making it difficult to store the chain once it has been unlocked.
I had to go out and buy more screws to break the right surface, so keep that in mind. Aside from that, I don't have any issues. It does exactly what I need it to. If someone were actually attempting to break into the house, I doubt it would hold up. However, all I needed to do was make sure that no small children opened the door and left the house without my permission.
Works. This took me about ten minutes to set up. I use it to prevent my children from escaping unnoticed from the house. I believe that as a last resort, this lock could keep an honest man honest; if someone wants to break in, they will. At the very least, this lock will ensure that they arrive with a bang. When my toddler tries to leave or my spouse forgets to unlock the door, I can hear it from the other end of the house. I'm a big, strong guy, and I've opened the door on purpose a few times while this was going on, but I haven't yet destroyed it. It serves my needs perfectly.
