I have a hole pattern that measures 12 x 3/4.
There is no doubt that this ADA door closer is excellent quality. In order for a door closer to qualify as ADA compliant, an interior door should not be able to open with more than 5 pounds of force. If you desire an interior door with a closer that can maintain an opening force of 5 pounds or less, you need an adjustable closer that will adjust An exterior view of the building In most areas, the fire door must open with 7 pounds or more of force, the minimum allowed by the local fire code. The weight of the dog is 5 pounds.
A commercial door closer like this one is mainly intended for commercial applications. The door closer cannot be used on a storm door as it is not heavy enough.
The latch keeps the door closed even if it is not "locked" When closed, your door will not blow open as long as it is latched. What keeps the door closed is the latch, not the

All in all, not bad. There was a security door that smashed and rattled when shutting, and I put this on it and now it's completely quiet. The door was quiet and deliberate, and it was nice to barely hear a click instead of one that was loudly crashing shut. Although the hardware that is included is mostly good and varies quite a bit, because it's technically a moving device, I attached it with holes that I drilled and tapped (B000CFNPGE) for the 14-pin connector. Instead of using very coarse-grained machine screws, use 20 FH machine screws In addition to the screw-in self drilling screws they included with the closer, but that's a mounting issue, not a closer issue. One problem I have is that the opening force will not adjust below what I consider to be a safe level for younger people, such as three-year-olds.
It was my first attempt at installing an automatic door closer. Installed it on a window near the inside of my 32" slamming garage entry door as a parallel arm installation. This setup seems to be pretty straightforward, but one thing that could pose a problem, as mentioned by another reviewer, is mounting the main body to high on the door, which could prevent the arm from clearing If I'm not mistaken, the instructions state that the main body should be mounted 3 3/4" from the underside of the The clearance was not sufficient, so the arm would have hit the upper threshold and the door would have been stuck open for about 12 inches. The door was mounted about an inch lower on the threshold (that is approximately 4 3/4" from the underside of the threshold) than the previous mounting. While mocking it up, I realized this did not come out right, so I recommend that if you have not installed one of these yet, you loosely attach the arm, plate, and main body and set it up against the door to get the proper clearance for a parallel arm installation. The rest of the hardware on this closer is quite nice. As far as I am concerned, it does what I wanted in that it does not slam shut when the door is closed, and latches it properly in the event A great feature is the ability to adjust individual latches, sweeps, and backchecks. To prevent the door from being so difficult to open, I had to lower the backcheck quite a bit. We were able to pair it perfectly with our oil rubbed bronze hardware.
Regardless of the fact that I had never performed this type of repair before, it turned out to be very successful. It is important to read the instructions a couple of times, to ensure I am orienting correctly (S (Sweep)   Located on the hinge side of the L (Latch) adjustments. In order for my door to open the maximum amount (about 120 degrees), the length of the screw rod was crucial. A box labeled "Commercial" said that it meant 2 million cycles, and I like that. For over 25 years, over 200 people have visited my home every day).
There's a lot of wind in the area I live in. The door of my workshop opens out, and a couple of times the wind caught it and carried it open, dragging me along There is a strong spring in addition to the hydraulics, which govern how fast the door closes. When I open it, the wind pushes against the spring, and the door stays closed. As far as the closing action is concerned, it was easy to set. I have a lot of experience with tools, so installation wasn't a hassle for me, but the instructions weren't that clear and the screws that came with it weren't adequate. The installation and adjustment of this device might be difficult for someone who is not handy.
Modifications to the door jamb trim were needed to fit the bracket and keep it in place after that. I found the closer to work great once it was installed.
It is impossible for me to get the doors to close for the life of me. Another problem is that they break everything. The idea that this would not fail in less than a month worried me. Since I put it in several months ago, it has not broken, and appears to be just as solid as when I installed it. The pros are Strong*Fast to adjust*Hasn't broken yet
*Pros Excellent, very robust, very fast, easy to adjust, hasn't broken yet. It was a bit confusing to follow the instructions. Particularly, the direction to turn knobs was wrong
I had to remount the unit twice on my door since the directions were not suited for residential doors, so I had to reinstall it twice instead of once.
The unit is of good quality. An experienced door closer installer can install the closer fairly easily unless you're not familiar with it. Depending on which method is chosen, actual installation, and adjustment, the unit can be installed in one of three ways. Following several Utube videos explaining the three issues, it became apparent what the issues are. The installation was straightforward as a result. There would have been no real benefit to reading the instructions. As soon as the installation procedure is understood, the mounting template is very useful. Although the adjustment is a little sensitive, the fact that the heavy door does not slam once closed and damage the alarm sensor has been a massive.
It's a smooth, firm closure that I love. A thick glass panel prevents the door from slamming shut due to high winds or wide open windows across the room. Investing in a good cause. After opening, it closes smoothly so that a child or a pet will not run out of the door. A functional closure for when you have a bunch of packages in your arms after entry. Fortunately, we were able to hire a handyman to do the job I would highly recommend it.
