Questions & Answers

The ball sits firmly inside the catch when the door is closed. How well does the door move when it is closed?

My case is, though, that the doors are securely held, but they can still move a tiny fraction of an inch by gently pulling on the handle. It is not a big issue for me, but it might be a problem for you. The way the catch works creates a limit on how tight it can really be held. In order for the door to open, the ball moves up and down both by means of force from the spring the ball rests on and friction with the rounded edge of the depression in the catch plate when you pull the door open. That is why the ball moves up and down. As the ball is moved up by the spring, it rests in the depression of the catch plate, holding By firmly pulling on the door, the ball seems to be dragged against the rounded edge of the depression on the catch plate, which allows for the ball to fall down and fall out of the depression, which opens the door. There is no strong tension holding such a latch in place it is designed strictly to keep a door closed against ordinary drafts and light pressure. You might want to try a different type of catch than this one if you're looking for a particularly strong hold.

In the case where the ball catch is too short, how are you supposed to adjust its height?

The hard part is putting it into From above, look down into the catch It will be evident that the ball is held in place by a thin, narrow ring. A screw is actually set into the round tube of the catch to attach the rim. A wheel rim can be raised or lowered in its threads to alter how prominently the ball protrudes. Despite its appearance, there is a thin gap/catch on A small screw driver or knife will work well for catching that gap. You can then slowly adjust the height or width of the rim. Moving is a little tough, but eventually it will be done. Make sure you do Ideally, you don't want the rim to come off and the ball to go flying. The ball and the rim could be replaced, but that is not as enjoyable. As a result To fix this, you need to turn that thin rim (counter-clockwise, if I remember correctly) a little bit, so that it rises up just a bit and allows the spring inside the cylinder to push the ball upward. Thanks for reading. I hope this helps you.

The new ball catch drive-in latches could be used as replacements for existing ball catch drives?

We would like to inform you that the following balls are available in this size The dimensions are 13/16 inch by 1 inch It is okay if you are replacing an old one that is the same size as your old one. It's been nice getting to know you.

Exactly what I was looking for
5/5

We live in a condo and there are a lot of doors that rely on ball catches to stay closed. We had a lot of trouble with finding an exact replacement for ours. The darn ball wouldn't stay in the holder, so it couldn't be fixed. There were several hardware stores I went to, but I was unable to locate the right replacement ball catch for the one I removed the ball catch from the sleeve that this one was in so that it fitted. I was able to pull it out with ease. Due to the new length being shorter than what I needed, I put about five pennies in the base of the old holder that was still in the closet. My new ball catch is the height I need to catch in the strike plate, so I bought the new ball catch up to that height. I was able to get it to work perfectly now.

Exactly what I was looking for when my 'drive in ball catch' failed
5/5

I had a problem with my old catch, but this one is super easy to use. Since the hole is just under 7/8 inches wide, I ordered a ball catch with a 13/16 inch diameter. I hammered a few taps on the nail and it slid right in. This installation took literally only 3 minutes to complete (2. The ball was already positioned at the perfect height, so I did not need to adjust the ball vertically. I did not need to attach the strike plate since my old one worked just fine. In the 7 minutes before the step-up, I grabbed the step-down After turning the key, remove the stool and hammer, then place them back into storage). This is the best purchase I've ever made.

What to do when a closet door is open
5/5

My ignorance has been exposed, especially the fact that I have been on this earth for 430 years, which is no excuse, and I have learned how to open The catch on these doors can be found on the It has been my experience that I have wrestled these to the ground when I lived in previous homes. It has also shaken the house when I opened these doors. There was an earthquake of magnitude 5. Since discovering these catches are adjustable, now I know how to adjust them to fit my needs. I'll use my pinky finger now to close and open the clasp. has taken a long time, but at least I still have the opportunity to.

Having been contemplating changing my interior door hardware for quite some time, a friend told me that she just did her's so I decided to take the plunge and do it myself
5/5

Everything I needed to install the door was purchased from Amazon (knobs, striker plates, hinges, door stops, etc. ). They were easy to install for my pantry and closet. The only work I had to do was replace the old hardware, so there was no digging or drilling involved.

This set fitted into an existing hole perfectly, just as I'd hoped I'd have experienced with my previous set
5/5

Despite its lack of marble, the old one still stood. As a result of the bearing popping out, the spring then stuck out and crashed against the door when you closed it. That little task was done by just prying out the old one and pressing in the new one. After I bought the first mounting plate that I bought with screws, I was forced to make a recess for the rectangular mounting plate, so I looked for one that simply presses into a round hole (like the previous one I bought).

It is yet to be seen how long these will last but provided an easy to replace alternative to the broken catches on the bathroom door for a fraction of the cost of the replacements purchased at the.

This works better than the original! As compared to the original, this Ball Catch is more efficient
5/5

With the spring's smaller tension and easier opening and closing of the doors than when the doors used the original ball catch, it appears to have less tension. To replace the old ball catch, I simply removed the old one and replaced it with I was able to fit into it.
