Questions & Answers

Is the consistency runny enough to use as a sealant for exterior wood end grain?

For end grain sealing, I haven't tried it yet. Having said that, I believe it will work. Just keep an eye on the BSI-approved cure time. After 30 minutes, 205 has an initial set, but it may take 12 or more hours to develop a full set. Double- Set the time according to the instructions.

Is this a good way to join metal and wood?

Yes, it is capable of bonding wood and metal. When both materials are a little scuffed, it works best. br>Russ-Pen Kit Mall is a store that sells pens, pencils, and other writing supplies.

Is it possible to use this Epoxy to adhere stones to jewelry?

Yes, but it is less effective with larger stones glued to flat surfaces. My wife uses E6000 silicone to make glass jewelry, and she swears by it.

What is the maximum temperature that this glue can withstand?

I live in Texas, where it can get quite hot (105 degrees in the sun is not uncommon), but I wouldn't want it to be that hot if I were gluing wood, regardless of the finish.

It did the trick, but proceed with caution
3/5

It worked perfectly for my project, which involved bonding wood to fiberglass in a boat. br>I mixed it in with a disposable plastic cup. Set a timer for both services and apply it. I had no trouble attaching and clamping the wood. It took about ten minutes to complete the process. When I returned to the mixing cup, I discovered that the remaining epoxy had solidified into a hard, hot gel during the process of attaching the wood. It appeared to be emitting smoke (steam or another vapor, I assume). In one spot, the cup had deformed and melted. Note: Working epoxy was still on the stick I used to mix it with, which was sitting on a piece of news paper. br>br>The product description claims a "30" minute working time, which may or may not be accurate in some cases. There should be an asterisk indicating that this is a serious problem. Only the small print on the bottle mentioned the quick cure time. Larger amounts could cure in as little as 10 minutes. br>br>Perhaps extending the time by mixing with a can on a cold pack.

It will cook on its own
5/5

This epoxy was used to hold a joint in a maple work bench together. So far, the product appears to be holding up; however, it's difficult to say whether it will hold up in the long run. br>br>Tip from the woods: The packaging guide (which I believe BSI should include in the product photos) suggested Mid-Century Modern. Cure vs. Quick Cure the wood to get the best results. I had no idea and would have bought Mid-Century Modern if I had known. Instead of Slow-moving, Cure-moving is a better option. Cure. Important Mixing Advice: br>br> Do not mix in a cup or other container and then leave it there while applying. br>br>I was aware of this, and I reasoned that I could apply the epoxy quickly enough to avoid it. I made a mixture of about 1. In my first batch, I made three bottles, or about ten ounces. In a small plastic tub, I thoroughly mixed it for 3 minutes, and then I felt a slight warmth in the cup. With a brush, I quickly applied epoxy to both surfaces. When the mixing cup started cooking quickly, I barely got enough coverage on the second piece. Because the heat from the chemical reaction sped up the chemical reaction, the remaining epoxy portion, about 6 oz, was hard within 7 minutes of starting to mix. I was aware of this, but I didn't anticipate it cooking itself in such a short period of time. This only happened to the material that had been waiting to be applied in the mixing up. The epoxy that was initially applied was satisfactory and remained malleable for a long time. br>br>Takeaway: If you have a lot of time to apply the epoxy, spread it out in thinner pools or mix and apply it in batches.

Excellent packaging for an excellent epoxy brand
5/5

I'm not sure what to make of number two. a half-part epoxy for one hour However, I adore the presentation of this one. I was able to keep the bottles in the package because it was a pop-open package. Rather than some wacky peel-and-stick gimmick, There's a plastic plug in each bottle that comes out without spilling anything on you, unlike the liner under the caps (which never seem to work and make a mess). The ONLY wrong thing I do is cut each cap at the line that is supposed to hold the cap on rather than above it . As a result, I'll have to use tape to secure the caps. But if you're not as stupid as I am, you'll appreciate how easy this epoxy is to work with.

It's great, and it's definitely yellow
5/5

This is wonderful in every way. It's a great product that works and cures. I used it to make faux stones, so while it's great, there are two things to keep in mind for jewelry makers: br>br>1) It works well with my homemade alcohol inks, so I'm guessing it will work well with professional grade - NOTE: If it feels rubbery when you remove it from the mold, don't worry; straighten it out and let it cure for another hour or so. It needs to be impenetrable. 2) The Shthfdhfht Is YELLOW! br>br>3) The Shthfdhfht Is WHITE! br>br>4) The Shthfdhfht Is So, stupid me, I couldn't tell it was yellow and just ordered it because it was 30 minutes away. But, since I was going to dye it anyway, it wasn't a big deal. If you want clarity, however, this is not the route to take. br>br>It takes about 30 minutes to cure, sometimes even less. However, it takes about 8 hours for it to start curing. 10 so work quickly because once it starts to get hot, which it will, you'll be out of time.

Working time is adequate; in fact, the working time of this epoxy is comparable to that of any slow-setting epoxy I've used
5/5

You don't have 30 minutes to work with it, but you do have a good 15 minutes before it thickens up. That's a long time to complete whatever task you're working on. And once it's fully set up, it seems to last a long time. I'm heating it up by submerging a container of mixed product in boiling water. This thins it out to the point where I can squeeze it through a syringe with a 14ga tip. Although heating it reduces the amount of time you have to work with it, you still have a lot more time than you would with a 5 minute epoxy. In fact, if you're lucky enough to work with a 5 minute epoxy, it will only take you about 1 minute to heat it up.

This epoxy outperforms anything available in a local store
5/5

U are something I create. As a hobby and a side business, I make Civil War camp scene dioramas. The dioramas have been on display at Civil War shows in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as well as at local museums throughout the Washington, DC metro area. I'm well-versed in a wide range of cements and epoxies. This epoxy outperforms anything I've found in a local hardware or big box store when it comes to my work. You can get a very small amount of epoxy out of each tube without wasting any epoxy, unlike most other brands. So it's ideal if you only need to fix a piece of jewelry or a small item. In addition, even after repeated use, the applicators remain clean. This may not be the best option if you need epoxy to cover a large area. However, having it on hand for a quick fix is worthwhile.

Excellent epoxy with a slow cure time
5/5

I've used 5-minute epoxy before, but now I need to fill a large void in a counter top to repair damage. More open time was required so that I could apply a larger amount of epoxy and allow it to settle and level before curing. The epoxy's results have exceeded my expectations. I mixed a large batch that I was able to fill 98% and then mixed a smaller batch to add to one end and then mixed a smaller batch to add to one I'm not sure how long it took to cure, but I filled the void, leveled it, and removed air bubbles with a heat gun before leaving it to cure overnight. It hardened to a solid state, and I'm very pleased with the outcome. I bought this product because it was a smaller job and I didn't want to have to buy a large quantity of West epoxy at a high price point for the small amount I needed for the job, and it worked just as well as the West epoxy.
