Questions & Answers

What steps can be taken to make this weatherproof to be plugged in continuously to an extension cord outdoors?

Located on the exterior of a enclosed trailer, this is mounted. If I'm not pulling it, I fill it with an extension cord all the time, rain or shine. I've never had a problem with it. Thank you! I hope you find it useful.

What kind of mounting hardware is included with this item?

The cover plate that came with my device is shown (it is attached to the power inlet device with screws), as well as a foam gasket for the back of the cover, as well as 4 standard electrical screws (I think 3/4") to secure the device to the Ensure that your box and wiring are your own. In case you will mount directly to a wall or panel, you will have to provide your own alternative fasteners (screws, bolts, rivets). The instructions specify the use of a 2 if mounting directly to a panel. The hole in the ground is 3" in diameter, and there are four screws per inch. A 9" x 3" sheet. The third inch.

If this is mounted on an outside wall of a studio, how should the inside of the studio look if there is a romex cable coming ?

Because I don't know what the inside looks like of your studio, that's a very hard question. The connection between the wall and the wires should not be visible once the wall is finished.

The square ends that extend from extension cords from the hardware store work with this socket?

What you mean when you say "square" ends is unclear to me. In addition to being triangular in shape, grounded female ends on extension cords are often triangular in shape. I can think of a lot of female ends that will fit the receptacle.

Put the box in a deep space
4/5

you are going to use this in a wall box, use a surface-mount box Whether you mount the box on the bulkhead or just mount it on the wall, it would look like a large male extension cord plug with a cover plate and a door in front of the prongs on top, while the cable exits There is a lot of depth to the device, and it is wired from the back, not from the sides at all. This 23-cubic-inch machine is equipped with a compressor. I'd like to. The solids were about a foot long unwrapped and fit in an unwrapped box nicely I would say locating a fuse in a 10ga wire is about as easy as locating one in a 10ga wire (no wire nuts, pigtails, bushings, or anything else). To put it differently, it took a bit of doing, but it shouldn't be too difficult with 12 or 14awg wires. A shallow box, a handy box with 13" holes, or a box with lumps and bushings in the back will not work. The price of this receptacle isn't too bad compared to other female receptacles, plates, and covers, but it's just what I was seeking with a sturdy build.

A great product to use on a shed
5/5

I purchased this and installed it. I like how easy it is to install wires since they come straight out of the back. It did not come with a gang box, which was my sole complaint. It's nothing to worry about, according to me. As a result, I had to purchase an outdoor gang box with an extension to fit this plug's depth at Lowe's. You will need to prepare ahead of time if you choose this route Put all the screws in the holes and then have someone hold the box so that you can drill them all in. It does have a clean look to it. All in all, I'm very pleased with the outcome.

This product is suitable for a wide range of applications and in all weather conditions
5/5

Most 120 volt-only applications where you'd want 'pass-through' power would benefit from the isolation of this power supply You can connect an outdoor generator to an indoor outlet by running a cable through it. Install this between studs on the siding of the house, connect a short piece of romex and feed it into a new outlet mounted either inside the house or cutout for the As a result, you will not have to feed extension cords through a window or door to operate the generator. Although you still have to use extension cords within the house, it is far superior to dealing with the results of Consider the best location of your portable generator in the house that you will want to use it. From the initial installation you can add outlets and romex cables to these points. If you want a 240 volt generator outlet, then you'll have to install a transfer box or shutoff breaker with wiring. However, you will need a permit to do this. Keep in mind that you will still need to plug in your appliances to When the power goes out, the generator will take over and power outlets will be able to be used. A wet environment is not appropriate for the use of this product. In that case, you'll need a full cover.

Definitely a good product
3/5

It does what it's supposed to do. The box that was recommended required two hours of my time today just to get this thing into it. The first thing is that the wire locking screws close when you turn them counterclockwise, so you must turn them counterclockwise gently. I stripped the first screw. It was my fault that I did not pay more attention to the tightening process. It wasn't the plug itself that was problematic, it was that I had to constantly shorten the wires that came into the box because even without the wires, the plug takes up an insane amount of space. When I had the wire inserted, the next step was to screw in the foam pad and plate. After getting everything into the box, it was just a matter of adding the foam pad. It is the design I'm unhappy with. A box with a depth of about 1" is needed for this product. As soon as I was inside the box, I ran a continuity test, which went smoothly. It would be better not to use a metal box again, because it only made it worse. It was easy to install and worked well once installed. The design just doesn't appeal to me much.

This is a great generator accessory
5/5

This I had mounted on a wall of the garage opposite the kitchen by my electrician. A generator will be connected to this outlet, and an extension cord can also be run from inside. He also installed two outlets in the kitchen that will be connected to this outlet. Since I am no longer forced to run an extension cord under the kitchen door, as I did when hurricane Irma knocked out our electricity, I will not have to do that any longer. Devices in this category are much more affordable than those in home improvement stores with big boxes. Installation of this system requires that you install a box in the wall, but that is not difficult.

With a generator, a circuit can be powered in the woods
5/5

A small circuit is powered by my Honda generator hooked up to this outlet. Since I cannot think of a good reason for using one, I do not use a grounding rod. My pics will follow. I'll post them once I've done it. The entire grid has been disconnected The woods were quiet out there.

There is a problem with the plug fitting in the recommended Go to Home Depot to get the box, the box they recommend will not fit the plug
3/5

Order the plug and get the box at Home Depot. The plug itself is excellent and fits most extension cord female ends with ease, but you should use a deeper box if you are going to use it. I made it work by grinding down the center piece, but a deeper box is really what is needed.

Worked like a charm
5/5

The inlet is connected to a metal gang box on the inside of my work trailer with a long screw, which I put on the inside of the box. I ran wires from an outlet box and a light switch to a metal jacketed box. The main purpose of the heater is to prevent paint, spackle, and adhesives from freezing during the winter.
