Questions & Answers

Is it possible to buy just the pouch and leave the tools at home?

Klein has a wide range of pouches in various sizes, shapes, and colors. This one, in particular, resembles their part 5119 almost identically.

Is it possible to use Fluke 110 blades in this tool?

Universal blades include the 110, 66 block, and visipatch. It comes with a blade that will last thousands of punches without needing to be replaced. This tool has been in my possession for at least three years. The pick that comes with it is a very versatile tool in and of itself, and it's hard to come by. The tool has a much slimmer neck than any other tool on the market and is rubber-handled for added comfort. Allowing for use in previously inaccessible areas (such as the back of a 110 patch panel).

Does the pouch have room for schears?

It appears to be made for the contents of this kit, in my opinion. Depending on how big your schears are, you might be able to get just one handle.

How long does this come with a warranty?

If you send it to Klein, they will replace it with a new one. They're only good for about 1000 cable punches (between 4 and 5000).

I'm having a hard time getting used to this look
3/5

It came with a tool pouch, which I really like. There is only one blade that has both 110 and 66 on it. They both have blades for cutting wires after punching, so daisy chaining cross connect wires is not an option. That will necessitate the use of additional blades. Maybe it's just me, but the round handle design was difficult for me to adjust to. I went back to my old traditional punch tool, which is wrapped in black tape due to a drop. This punch tool was given away, but I kept the pouch and the new blade.

For the first hour, it was fantastic
3/5

I had been using it for about an hour at work when I suddenly felt something give. "Punch down" is no longer an option. This tool's entire purpose. I can't begin to express how disappointed I was to finish the job with my old Fluke, which I had used throughout my apprenticeship. The only thing this thing proved was that it would break under normal wear and tear. Get a Fluke for yourself.

This is a fantastic tool

I, on the other hand, require its replacement. This is a fantastic tool. Klein tools have always been a favorite of mine. At work, I use it on a daily basis. The spring, on the other hand, appears to have failed. As a result, I was able to get 5 months of solid use out of it. Klein is one of my favorite brands to purchase because their products are high-quality. They'll also replace them if they break. I'm looking forward to receiving my replacement because the other big-name brand isn't quite up to par.

This is a review of the cushion grip impact punch down tool kit, which is quite nice
5/5

I'm an electrician with over a decade of experience in the field. This is one of the nicest punchdown tools I've ever used, and it's a pleasure to use. The spudger, the punch tool, a Sharpie, and my scissors all fit nicely in the small pouch that comes with the kit.

The quality is terrible
3/5

After punching four cat6 keystones, there was a POP and no more impact. Klein refused to honor the warranty, claiming that "typical conditions causing failure" were to blame. IT IS A PUNCH DOWN TOOL, AND AFTER 4 KEYSTONES, IT DOES NOT WORK. Klein tools didn't quite hit the mark.

This is an excellent resource
5/5

Don't be tempted to buy on a shoestring budget. My other cheap punchdown tool's spring and blade popped out while in use. Punches did not do a good job of seating pairs. Had a failure rate of 30 percentage of 30 of 30 of 30 of I got this Klein tool and it hasn't let me down yet. This is something I use all the time with high-density patch panels and keystone jacks. When working between cables in densely populated panels, the extended tip is extremely useful.

Everybody adores the new design
5/5

This is a standard punch with a much larger handle. It is much more comfortable and less tiring to use than the traditional punch tool, and it is used by all of my guys, including the old telecom guys. I'm not sure how long these have been available, but we wish we'd discovered them sooner. It differs from other punch tools that resemble screwdrivers in that it has a spring-loaded impact, similar to a regular punch tool, and it can be set for low or high impact.

Another failure of the spring
3/5

It took about 1000 punches to break it down. I'm baffled as to why Klein can't figure it out. It appears to be the weak point in what is otherwise a good tool. I'm not likely to purchase another.
