It's the kit with no BS. It accomplishes your goals and performs admirably. I just wish Fluke wouldn't be so picky with the punch down blade. You only get one, which I was aware of prior to purchasing, so full disclosure. To be more specific, you will only receive a 110/66 combo blade that cuts on both sides. To do work that requires bridging of the jump wire, I'll need to buy more blades to have a 110cut/110blank and a 66cut/66blank. Salt level is about 6 out of 10.
If you're like me and are purchasing this for your career or business, then go ahead and spend the money. It's of good quality and will last a long time; I've worked for a company that provided me with lower-quality tools, and it was a nightmare. With my first paycheck, I went out and purchased this. Nothing else will ever satisfy me.
It wasn't until after it arrived that I realized it didn't come with a spudger. The blades are chrome plated and not as sharp as others I've used in the past. This version's quality and features have been reduced, which has disappointed me.
This tool comes with two EverSharp blades, which I like, and which are worth the price of the tool in and of themselves. The Fluke product is one of my favorites because it is relatively smooth and slim, making it easy to slip into and out of the work pouch. If you're using OSP cable, the plastic is simple to clean. The spring appears to be stiff, but my old one was most likely just worn out. Its four rivets appeal to me. A co- A coworker of mine purchased a set from E-Bay for a reasonable price. Bay, and it only lasted a day. This tool has been added to Systimax's list of approved impact tools. Some of the other brands have a stiffer spring, but Systimax did not specify which brands they were.
Simply buy it; if you're a pro, it'll be well worth your money.
It's great, but it's pricey; if you're going to do a lot of wiring, it's worth it for the convenience of having a nice pouch with everything you'll need to punch down; it'd be even better if it came with a punch down block and a place to put it.
What do you expect from a Fluke, anyway? I've used both 20-year-old and brand-new Fluke punch downs. They were in perfect working order, and the blades were razor-sharp. Even on 22 gauge, a single punch gets the job done every time.
Great.
