The electrician I talked to told me it was run in 3/4, but I went ahead and got 1". I had no problems at all. A conduit lubricant is probably needed on 3/4 of the conduits.
In short, yes. A steel pipe that's between 1/2" and 1" in diameter has been approved by UL for direct burial or concrete encasement (DBE). In this installation, thick wires measuring from 1" to 2" cannot be buried direct or encased in concrete since they do not meet crush requirements.
Make sure it gets good and warm by laying it in the sun

Waterproof flexible material has never been used by me. The quality of this stuff is excellent. I installed a mini split and ran the cables through it. The run had to be 80 feet and take me under grade/behind stairs for a portion, plus I had to run at ground level for 80 feet. On most of the run, the ground is usually 6 inches above grade. Since I wanted to be water resistant, I bought the most water-proof case I could find. There is power in this stuff.
It worked well in my experience. I have used it twice for projects. The body of the dead is buried A non-water tight shoe is recommended if you have issues with feet A metal conduit is suitable for outdoor use.
I used it to run an outside outlet and it worked perfectly. There's an outside outlet for a hot tub, and I've run the lines to it. I liked it very much.
Very easy to use!.
The service was excellent. I will be using it.
