Is there a screw connection between the inner 10mm opening and the 10mm motor shaft?

I'm not sure which brand of rotary slip I used, but whatever one needs to attach to the motor shaft, and the one I used had a small screw or bolt or whatever you want to call it that tightened onto the shaft.

Is it possible to power items on a rotating display using this method?

Yes. It was used to power a turntable from a stationary base with the turntable's driveshaft passing through the center.

Good product, but a hex wrench would have been nice to have

The slip ring is fantastic; it fits the 8mm rod perfectly and spins effortlessly. The three rotor tightening pins require an allen wrench, which I do not have, as it is very small and smaller than the average allen wrench. This allen wrench isn't included, but it's necessary for tightening the pins. I'll be a couple of days late getting the tiny wrench, so keep that in mind.
