Questions & Answers

A 1985 Okuma LBL is my first lawn mower The servo motors in the robot are AC. Do I have to buy servo drives that would work with my current The same goes for a spindle motor, right?

In addition to being able to output axes, the Acorn is able to output step and direction. You should be able to use any drive that accepts step and direction. Control of spindle speed is provided by the Acorn, who outputs 0-100% 10v is also a common voltage and should be compatible with your VFD.

Could you please tell me if you are using ?

The latest version is Version 4, which took effect at the beginning of March 2019

Are there any versions of this available for use in Australia with 240 volts, or does it need an adapter to function there?

240/50Hz incoming is acceptable with the Acorn power supply. Acorn power supplies are internationally rated. The power cord can be directly plugged in to the wall with just an outlet adapter needed.

There is a great deal of frustration
3/5

This is an unpleasant piece of software I find that some things work great, but because of their quirks, I don't like to use them. There are no opportunities to provide feedback to the support because it is combative. There is no need for it. Either the way they want it or you don't know what you're talking about. In summary, if you're new to GRBL and open source software, you'll need to expect an arduous learning curve. You'll need to sit through hours of verbose videos in order to learn the terms, definitions, An example is what is meant by 'overall turns ratio'. While I can guess at it and I did figure it out, explaining it to someone else would be difficult since I don't think I would be able to do it without assistance. A touch screen display is another example of how the software expects to be run on. It will be difficult to alt-tab or use other apps (like your browser when searching their forums for answers) without having to deal with its The wizard doesn't seem to grab parameters from the controller either, for another example. Upon switching to a touch screen computer, all the settings were back to defaults, copying the settings from the desktop computer. The xml files seemed to have no effect. I'm not going to ask on the forums because they are probably going to tell me I am doing something wrong and that I'm supposed to watch more One last example is that you cannot save configuration in MDI mode. You just crash with no error message when you try to do so. As I said, I probably did it wrong, since I should have restarted the app every time I made changes to the content. Like Windows 3, it has a similar feel. There is one UGGGGGGGGGGGH. To be fair, the spindle sync did work well and it was easy to set up the hardware. It is likely that you will need to upgrade (pay) to the pro version of the software if you are running a lathe. The following tips may help Make sure your lathe is configuring the DB9 spindle sync correctly or that a db9 breakout board and parallel port (DB25) breakout are purchased. If you're looking for endstops, check out the HiLetgo 3Pcs ME-122 For such a small amount, they are big and beefy and do a good job. It would be a good idea to download the "centroid lathe operators manual for cnc12" and read it before you purchase. If those keywords are entered, the result should be the first one.

DIY enthusiasts should look no further than this CNC controller
5/5

You cannot possibly find a better controler than this! Sept. is the date I bought it. I've been using it since February 09, 2019 and have been impressed by how well the little board and software perform. also shows that the company that made it (Centroid) also makes industrial CNC controls. Acorn was impacted by a lot of this experience. In addition to the software, it is also made by the same company, but because of that, there are few bugs. Test the Mach 3 or Mach 4 if you are not familiar with how valuable this is. It is not intended to bash, when you simply want something that works and you do not have to stand around debugging or configuring plugins all day. There is a lot of software and hardware development around Acorn, which is always a good thing and shows that the company is committed I had no trouble setting it up at all. All you need to do is connect the power to the Acorn controler and then the Ethernet cable to the CNC PC. It's going to look like a Christmas tree when it's lit up! No need to worry, this is for the better! You can begin the software installation on your PC once it is done and when it is done, you will see the lovely minimalist interface. As soon as you reach this point, all you have to do is move the axes (virtually), or you can connect motors (via drives), spindles (via VFD), pumps, sensors, etc. All of this is hassle-free! A very impressive feature of the system is its A disclaimer Despite my affiliation with Centroid (the company that produces the Acorn controller and software), I do not work for them. am a big fan of the product(s) and think it deserves credit where it.

Upgrade is the right course of action
5/5

A more robust controller is ideal for DIY, such as a stepper or servo, rather than the more commonly used method. Centrodox also sells a dedicated PC that, when paired with their CNC routers, provides an affordable, reliable solution for DIY plasma tables or CNC routers. As a result, this board contains its own processor (an ARM335X 1GHz) that is dedicated to executing all the time-critical motor control signals. need not wait for Windows to deliver these signals - it can run them on its own In fact, when Windows is busy with other applications, those signals must wait for their turn to be processed by the operating system. A board like this one avoids this issue by handling the signals internally. Additionally, it allows you to receive real-time positioning feedback from the encoder. This purchase was just what I was looking for.

This 50kb limit is annoying - you have to pay to play, and you must budget to get this The 50 KB limit is extremely low for such a great controller

Using fusion 360's sprial bore feature, I will not be able to drill 4 m8 holes. It runs very smooth and I can notice a significant improvement in the surface finish. Mac 4 and others are not as flashy in their GUI. With CNC12, you will get straight to the point, and it It is in excellent working condition.

It's been a while, Mach 3 and Mach 4
5/5

A very good system of control is being used here. Software and hardware of the system were developed specifically for each other, so everything has no problems. No plugins are required, and there is no need for a custom screen set. Although the control UI may appear simple at first glance, it closely mimics the look and feel of commercial CNCs than DIY alternatives. A high degree of customization of the system is possible (if you need or want to) with many parameters, macros, and full PLC programming ability. You can leave most things alone and just use it if you want simplicity!

Wheremach3 and, to a lesser extent, Mach4 seemed like they were just thrown together, this system has a polished and professional look. Almost certainly, however, you will need to upgrade the included free software to the "Pro" version for anything other than simple, short programs, though the Pro upgrade is much cheaper than Mach3 or Mach4 upgrades, and the hardware is only slightly more expensive than what you would need for As a result of switching to Centroid, I am very pleased with my decision!.
