Questions & Answers

Is this set up to be viewed on a desktop computer or do you have to have a cellphone to view it?

If you're familiar with Python or Docker, you'll know that it's a free, open-source language The source Vuegraf project allows you to pull all metrics from the vue service and store them into InfluxDB, allowing you to generate graphs within It is possible to create alarms that will trigger when certain thresholds are met. If you search the Internet for vuegraf, it will appear on the first page.

Does a subscription need to be purchased?

All you need to do is download the app and get your device.

Do you have any monthly fees associated with the app?

You won't have to pay a monthly fee. The program works well.

Could you please tell me if this works on ?

Yes, I agree. When it comes to 240 volts, there are settings which let you use only one clamp. The app should then double the reading when it comes to 240 volts.

I feel much better now
5/5

This is a review of the 4. 0 out of 5 stars*Easy to install and incredibly affordable (rated 3. 5 out of 5 stars). Although this device does not measure the actual voltage, it is disappointing that it does not do so. Due to the fact that the voltage measurement is needed to calculate the complex power (VA), the real power (W), and the reactive power (VAR), in some cases, the app displays an incorrect value for real power in watts. Among the circuits I opened including the one for powering my refrigerator, I opened all but 2, but the app showed I had opened 5. The current draw is 7 amps and the power consumption is 327 watts. In my experience, the 2 was the most important factor. I measured the current using a clamp meter, and it was the correct RMS value, but I knew that all of that current value did not represent the actual In order to measure this, I used an energy monitor to check the power drawn by the fridge which turned out to be 185 Watts. The inductive load (due to the compressor running) results in 57 power factor. For an appliance that runs 24 hours a day, there is a difference between the app's 327 Watts and the real value of 185 Watts, which is 142 Watts. The device also assumes that the voltage for the distribution feeder is constant at 120V, which may not be the case depending on the house location in the distribution feeder and/or household load conditions. It is possible for these factors to cause large discrepancies between the utility and customer kWh counts. An assessment of the latest model of the Emporia Vue. *5 out of 5 stars)
I was contacted by the Emporia Vue support team to try out the Gen 2 version of the store. A newer version of this product, however, includes the voltage measurement, which is capable of reducing the large error of unity power factor found in the previous version. I was able to install it very easily and it was an extremely affordable price. There is more accurate information displayed in the app and it seems to be more responsive. Data from my consumption meter in kWh can be exported to a CSV file. Unfortunately, the voltage data, which is required to do basic analysis of power quality, can't be found in the csv file. Additionally, if a feature were to be added that allowed circuits to be combined for more effective monitoring in situations where the lights and outlets of a room are on separate circuits, it would be beneficial. In the configuration settings, a multiplier can be used to increase the power of most double pole breaker loads, such as mini-breakers In order to supply the 240V supply voltage to the split air conditioning units, only two outlets need to supply the voltage Two hot wires (12V hot) and one neutral wire. If the load requires both 240V and 120V (internal electronics), then the current will not be equal and the multiplier might not In situations such as these, combining circuits makes the most sense because there are usually at least 4 wires (2 hot, 1 neutral, 1 ground), which is commonly required for these types of loads. In general, the newer version does a better job than the previous version. Even though there are a few improvements that can be made, it makes a great tool for monitoring household energy.

I was blown away by the results! The entire HVAC system in my new house had to be replaced early in the year with a high efficiency, multi zone system with a whole house humidifier after I moved into a new house this year
5/5

The new system is great, but I have been upset by the lack of usage history it provides despite digital cloud-enabled thermostats that are built in. Only Sense could monitor its electric usage. I looked around for another product that could do so. As I read the description of how the Sense worked, I concluded that its machine learning identification approach was too complex, took too long, and was too error prone to be effective for my needs, so I decided not to buy Suppose you fast-forward to December six months after the event. The electric bill for this month was $40 higher than the bill from the previous month. I decided to look for a new electric monitoring system because this did not make sense to me. I looked for the Gen 2 Emporia Vue this time. The information I sought was right there. It wasn't like I needed detailed information about devices to identify my energy use I just wanted a circuit-level breakdown of my electric usage. The vast majority of our electricity consumers in the house, such as the HVAC, the humidifier, the range, fridge, washer, dryer, etc. , are on dedicated circuits, why would I need to identify them at the device level? It ended up that we bought four of their smart outlets so we could monitor our radon fan and deep freeze that do not have I've tested the outlets, and they're perfect. It took fewer than an hour to install all 16 sensors, and except for one, the whole system was functional from the beginning. My online chat support specialist was able to send me a replacement free of charge 15 minutes after I contacted them! I first thought I'd need it, but my wife had no idea why we would need it. Now that she understands the unexpected benefit of my proposal, she is on board. When he's 15 years old, our son often forgets to turn the oven off after cooking pizzas in the oven at night. There is no end to the show. If the oven is left on for more than 2 hours, the Vue will notify him. The duration can be set. I had just recently started using 400 watts ceramic reptile heaters in my infrared grill to keep the propane tank warm in the cold Montana winters, so the extra $40 turned out to be from those heaters. Due to the Vue, I was able to do some experiments that I wouldn't have even contemplated had I not had it. Now I'm saving $40 each Also, I discovered that all the hanging lights in the house that use halogen bulbs consume a great deal of electricity. LEDs have been installed in their place. I am pleased with the end result the product, service, and savings in electricity were all better than I expected.

Consumers find it useful, but it is hostile to them
3/5

It was for monitoring my energy consumption that I purchased the Vue 2. In terms of getting a clearer picture of power consumption, the tool has been extremely useful. There have been some complaints about inaccuracies, but at least for what I tested, the Vue 2 was within about 3% of what my Kill-Ranger 200w was I like the device, but the app is a bit basic. The features of the device may not interest you.

So why did I only give it This is because Emporia intentionally built in limitations to the device. There is no API for retrieving your own data, and the only way to get it is to request an e-mail from them via the web. From within the app, you can send mail. In spite of Emporia employees' commitment that an API is "on the roadmap", nothing has been released to customers two years on from the promise. Even worse, the Vue 2 is only designed to function when connected to the internet. Emporia does not plan to provide a way to download data directly from your Vue 2. If for any reason their servers go down (for whatever reason, they get bored or go bankrupt) then your Vue 2 becomes useless. It is possible that Emporia might fix these issues, but since its business model is to sell your data, I am not hopeful.
