Questions & Answers

For a 240 square foot room with 6x24 tile, how many kits would I need?

One kit ought to suffice.

A reviewer mentioned that the clips and wedges had been upgraded. Is there a newer version, and if so, what is it?

My wedges and clips had been upgraded.

Can the clips and wedges be used on tiles that are 1/4" thick?

Because the mortar thickness is relatively constant, I don't see why they couldn't do it. This system is intended to keep the grout space even and prevent the tiles from settling unevenly as they are laid.

How many of these clips will I require for a 1000 square foot house?

I purchased a 2000-piece box of 1/8'' clips, laid around 620 square feet of 8x36 plank tile, and probably used about half of the box.

Selected User Reviews For LEVTEC Tile Leveling System 1/8" Kit (250 Wedges, 500 1/8" Clips, & 1 Pliers) (LT18KIT)

I'm very pleased with the product and the speed with which it was delivered
5/5

Though I believe it is a little overpriced for plastic, this product makes laying LFT (Large Format Tile) tile from a DIY look almost professional. I looked for a month, watching video after video, reading reviews, and finally settling on Lev- Tec. Ordered on Monday with free shipping, and it arrived halfway across the country on Wednesday! Thank you very much, "TileToolsDot. " com" Ordering and shipping were both very quick! br>My kit arrived on time and in perfect condition. Metal pliers, 2 bags of 1/8" clips @250 pack, and wedges are all included in this very sturdy tool box. br>So far, I'm very pleased with the results. So far, 250 clips have been used, and none have broken while clamping the wedges. So far, all of the clips have broken off beneath the grout lines, which is to be expected. Before adding the clip(s) and next tile, cut back or lighten the joint area with a margin trowel or putty knife!br>br>I'm telling you, I did extensive research, homework, how-to videos, examined box store products, pro flooring centers products, and so on. Most only carried knockoff copycat cheap and flimsy products, and no one had this kit, so I took a chance without seeing it in person. I went with Tec's system and I'm not sorry! br>If you're a first-time DIYer, educate yourself on how it works and how to lay tile, you'll appreciate this system. Pros: I don't think this brand will disappoint in terms of performance. And this is supposed to be their improved clip and wedge kit/system. br>br>Like all the other systems, I still believe they are too expensive for plastic! I spent less on the tile (210sqft) than I did on the system.

Everything you need is included in the kit, which is an excellent product
5/5

I did a lot of research before purchasing this kit, and while it wasn't the cheapest, it was a complete package that received rave reviews from professional tile installers. My only issues with the installation were finding a rhythm and making sure I didn't forget to place them while the thinset was still wet. If you're doing tile in stages, make sure the clips are in place where the adjacent tiles will meet before they dry. Again, that was my fault, not the kit's, and it did a fantastic job of eliminating lippage and ensuring it was flat and plumb in the end. In fact, the shower door contractor was blown away by how flat, level, and plumb the tile was. He said it never happens that way, and he was taken aback when I told him I was the one who had done it. At first, he thought I was joking; I am a type A personality, but I can't take credit for everything. This is a genuine leveling system. The kids also enjoy removing the clips the following day, so it's a win-win situation. br>br>If and when the need arises, I would and will purchase this system again. As previously stated, it saves a lot of money compared to hiring a contractor, but it also gives the DIYer a better chance of succeeding. Everyone will notice if you lay the tile incorrectly.

It's long-lasting and simple to use
5/5

This was my first time purchasing LEVTEC. I was hesitant to purchase it because of the price, but after using it on this project, I am placing an order for more. br>br>The black spacers were tough, able to withstand being stepped on or bent over without losing their integrity. When tapped on the side with a small mallet, they easily broke. Make sure you don't break them off in the direction of another person, as they might fly. br>br>I didn't take any breaks while using them. The only issue I had (which would be the case with any lash system) was that on a small tile pattern, there wasn't enough room to wrap them all the way around without them colliding. In that case, a spin top would most likely be the better option. br>br>I highly recommend LEVTEC and plan to buy more.

Don't even think about looking at a different kit
5/5

You've found it! This is, without a doubt, the best system available. It's simple to use and of good quality. Clear plastic protective pieces are included to go under the wedges to protect the tile while also making leveling easier. My large format tiles in the shower and my wood planks look tiles on the floor both turned out perfectly thanks to the clips breaking in the right spot every time. I'm only a do-it-yourselfer, after all.

They're low-cost and never fall apart! These are inexpensive, as is the tool that comes with them, and the spacers are never completely broken off
3/5

Stick with Rubi spacers; they're much less expensive and the quality far outweighs the levtec garbage. Never use this method again!.

There's no better system
4/5

I've never used a better leveling system. Storage was provided in the form of a nice toolbox. The wedges are of excellent quality, and the clips are extremely durable. On a 300 square foot job, I only broke one. The price is the only thing that bothers me.

It does what it says
5/5

Used on an 8x40 tile and it worked perfectly. Other brands, according to reviews, are more prone to breading. This was not the case. They cost roughly twice as much as the other options. I would have preferred it to be more in line with the other leading brand in terms of price.

The process of laying tiles has just gotten a whole lot easier
5/5

These are fantastic! I can tighten the wedges with the pliers and my floor and shower have zero lippage, so installation and removal are a breeze. I'm not sure why it took me so long to get a wedge system.
