I believe this is one of the few big appliances that I have bought that basically works. Assembling and configuring it was very easy, and when I turned it on, it did exactly what it was supposed to - it worked right away. Even the app functions as a garage opener. All of the remote controls, the panel, the outdoor panel, the backup battery, everything is connected. Other than that, everything is great. I just don't like how exposed the belt is. In fact, it's quite quiet, just as promised, and it slows down just before it reaches the closed state. This indoor control panel has a display for the temperature, time, and battery status, and a motion sensor enables the lights to be triggered when motion is detected. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the app This app follows the Android design guides almost exactly and is easy to use, unlike most proprietary apps built for any type of hardware. There is one thing I don't like about the software IFTTT and Google Assistant are both integrated, but they both require a subscription, which is a joke. Will I need to subscribe to IFTTT to be able to control my garage door opener? Taking a closer look at Chamberlain will help them better understand what they're offering. The opener is for a garage door. A garage opener and a garage shutter are attached to it. Many of my household appliances are connected to my network, and some are capable of much more. A subscription is not necessary to access any of them. As a whole, I consider this a fantastic product, but have to dock a point for the ridiculous decision to place some features behind a subscription model. At this point, I consider IFTTT and Google Assistant functionality to be basic necessities, not premium features that can be charged.
There is a major problem with wireless capability A wireless connection is available on this device via 2 wireless channels. GHz capability) AND it is necessary to disable the 40MHz channel RF antenna, 4 GHz (I could not use mixed or 40 MHz only, I had to select "only 20 MHz"). A great many people report that they are unable to get their garage door opener to connect to their router online. Several hours of fiddling with it later, I found that the issue laid with the 20/40 MHz band (I am guessing that most people's routers are affected by this). In Chamberlain's case, the 20/40 MHz issue does not appear to be resolved. As a simple and straightforward solution, Chamberlain provides a list of incompatible routers (which you shouldn't rely on). Despite the fact that there is no problem with your router, simply connecting the garage door to the wireless AP/router can prove to be a nightmare. In order to master the right combination of button presses (for specific amounts of time) in coordination with different LED colors and blinking frequencies, it has to be perfected exactly. You are locked out from configuring the settings for 30 minutes for any small mistake in the process (and you will make a lot of them). Hence, you don't need to plan anything else for that day, and you can prop that ladder up under your garage door I can't seem to connect one of the two openers I have to my network even after all of the above are done. I could have avoided every problem with the wireless setup *and constant connectivity issues* if it had included an Ethernet port. Seriously, why not just include an Ethernet port? I could have wired the opener in less time than it took to set up the wireless and never have connectivity issues. I hate Google Home Integration because it is wasted money and is garbage If you want your garage door opener to work with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and IFTTT, you must pay for this. In order to maintain those services, you will need to subscribe to each of them separately. If you want to use two or three of them, you will need to purchase two or three separate subscriptions. Also, and this is the most frustrating thing, the device does not integrate with Google Home in the same way other smart devices do. To set up the connection, you have to use a weird skill/program/service voice interface because Chamberlain wants to charge money for this service. It takes a lot more time to respond to the garage door than other smart home devices because garage doors have a particularly small syntax. This device is not compatible with Google Home, and you cannot add it to your smart home devices with Google Home, you will see all your smart lights, smart switches, thermostats, smart TVs, but not your garage door opener. To put it plainly, this product does not integrate with other devices well, but integrates in a much worse way with lower functionality *and you have to pay for a subscription in order to do it this way. In addition, Chamberlain's only way to profit from this "service" would be to connect it this way in a more problematic It would be a simple matter to return both if the device were easier to remove.
In the first instance, the installers charged $50 more for installing the sensors, claiming it was not included in the Amazon service fee. I was able to open and close the online app on that first day, which was great. On my way to work the next day, it opened and closed (completely) mid-morning. Midway through the day, receive a phone call from a family member who got home and discovered the garage door had been left I am not sure why the WiFi enabled opener was so strange, but that's the reason I bought it. As soon as I opened the application to close it, it said the opener for my garage door was offline, so there's no point in using this. It appears WiFi enabled is a myth. As luck would have it, nothing was stolen from me when I got home. A frustrating hour was spent trying to reset the WiFi, etc. , but nothing worked, and I'm still offline. Wi-Fi was an extra cost that did nothing for us.
It appears that no one at Chamberlain can figure out how to fix the garage door that keeps opening by itself. The customer service department at chamberlain has been very dissatisfied with the inability to solve this issue when it was open during our vacation. This is a big issue as it was open during our vacation that we had no service. Constantly disappointed by this.
Once in place, the unit is convenient and reliable. The LED bulbs can still not be used. There was a bit of difficulty installing this, so much so that I was contemplating deducting a A new belt drive had to be installed to replace an old chain drive. My installation was pretty difficult due to unclear instructions and I was forced to google instructions for most of it. I took a couple of hours to connect the belt to the rail because of misaligned threads on the belt tensioner bolt included with the kit. In addition, instructions were unclear and the instructions did not clearly explain where to screw the bolt. After tightening the belt by hand to remove excess slack, there is no real benefit to doing so. *When following the directions, and completing this step, there was still a ton of slack that had to be removed* *Connecting to wifi and the app is tricky due to the fact it's done from the motor housing, and In order to guide you, you are required to use blinking lights and beepers, which I feel is archaic. There was a lot of work involved in setting the limits for open and close. It is simple. Despite that, it's a bit of a pain. In an experiment, my previous opener was rated to have more power, but was much slower than this one. I think that's why this is a 5 star rating. There are many conveniences and it is quite. Wi-Fi is reliable, and there are features such as a thermostat and motion sensors that make the product even better. Last but not least, I wish such a high tech device allowed the use of LED bulbs instead of CFL or incandescent.
