It doesn't seem to be the case. Tiles stand out in the room because they have no support underneath from a solid floor. Moreover, they sit up off the ground a bit so the plastic that holds them together would be able to slip through. My opinion is the only one that counts.

Our neighbors’ deck was unfortunately getting birdseed from our bird feeder on their deck through the cracks in this flooring, so we had to buy it for our patio. By narrowing the cracks, it was able to help with that and look absolutely amazing too. It is far and away our favorite place to be at home, and we ordered these over three months ago, and they still look new, even with their near-new condition. It rained, it was hot and there were tornadoes. I am trying to think of a single complaint and I am not able to. With proper use and maintenance, these should last a very long time, and we will definitely take them to our next house and use them for a long time.
There is clearly a coating on the tiles, but they appear unfinished. I love the color, and I really like the fact that the tiles appear unfinished. I was disappointed in the quality of the tiles but the assembly process was easy. A few of the cuts of wood were not sawed neatly and were splintered. In my opinion, it's just a shade off when it comes to color, which is why I give it 4 stars. 3 packs were ordered and one of them was a deeper shade of grey (more blue) and the rest were light in hue. There also seems to be spray paint on the wood, but once it's all tubed together, it looks really.
