Questions & Answers

Hello, how thick is the strapping and what is the gauge?

This is tiedown strapping for mobile homes - According to the description, it appears to be in compliance with 24CFR3280. Type 1 galvanized steel strapping is specified by 306g, which includes the following features: 1. 0.25" wide by 25" long 20 gauge, 035" thick The G60 refers to the galvanizing thickness, not the metal gauge, as one of the other answers suggests. 6 oz zinc per SF (both sides) or 0.006 oz zinc per SF 3 oz/Sf per side (approximately 1/2 mil) - the code's bare minimum for non-profits environments with salty air Note that this must be used with tiedown anchors and binder strap clips (which it feeds through and bends around) to come close to the design strength - Drilled and bolted is not an option because it will significantly weaken the structure. Fasteners can be found at mobile home supply stores, some mobile home dealers, and some farmer cooperatives. ops and places like Tractor Supply In areas with a lot of mobile home parks, Lowes/Home Depot are also good options. This is also commonly carried in 100' or 200' contractor-sized containers in those types of places. if you require a large quantity of rolls

What is the total number of pieces in the box?

Not sure; I haven't opened it in quite some time. I believe there are four. (I didn't check because I cut them up into small pieces for another project.)

Is this the kind of material that's used to secure a storage shed?

Yes, you can secure a storage shed with this.

Would drilling holes necessitate the use of a specialized drill bit?

I used a regular stel bit to drill holes and had no problems.

Very incisive
5/5

It was exactly what I was looking for, and it was of excellent quality. It's very sharp, so be careful. Despite my best efforts, the extra slack whipped around and severed all of the tendons in the back of my leg. Please exercise extreme caution.

Keep an eye on things
5/5

Great product, but use caution when opening the coil. It will fly because it is wound under a lot of tension. My tie wrap was opened by loosening the first coil through it without cutting it. I'm glad I did, because even opening that way was a bit of a struggle. Aside from that, it's a fantastic product that would be useful in any store.

Hardware that is suitable for contractors
5/5

Protect your hands and eyes by wearing gloves and goggles. This is a high-quality item that comes with an ASTM rating and the HUD certifications mentioned in the product description. This is not a soft metal band, but rather a hard rock band. carbon steel that requires the use of a metal saw or a cutoff wheel to cut; Tin snips aren't worth the trouble. A zip tie is used to secure the strapping in the illustration. If you cut it off, you'll be sorry when the entire roll unwinds violently. As you pull enough strap out, slide the zip tie down the roll.

Making your own fastening brackets is a breeze with this kit
5/5

This was not used for strapping. It's just the right thickness that you can bend it with tools but it's hard to bend by hand, so it stays in place until you don't want it to. I used it to make custom brackets and fastening strips for my woodworking and electronics projects. It can be drilled; use cobalt bits and drill at a slow speed with firm pressure after denting it with a punch to avoid walking. It can be bent in a vice and cut with aircraft shears, but only just. Using a rotary tool and a fiberglass cutting wheel, I've been able to cut or even melt slots into it. So, for example, to mount a numeric keypad, I cut a 2" or so piece of wood. Then I drill two holes in one end of the board. On the other, I use shears to cut a slot and a rotary wheel to shape it. I sand a little because I don't want any burrs. Then, using the vice, I fold it into an L and crush the metal flat around the holes and slot. Now I have a custom bracket that allows me to screw the two screw holes into the case and adjust the height of the pad using the slot until it fits the enclosure. That sort of thing. So, in the end, what pleases me the most is that it's the perfect strength and thickness to bend when you want it to but stay put when you don't.

I have a 93 motorhome in which I had to remove my blackwater (pooper) tank (which is a story in and of itself)
5/5

Someone had previously cut the original support straps, and they had rigged up a crappy (pun unintended) method of tank support. I was re-acquainted with myself after a long period of time When it came to installing the tank, I wanted to use strapping that looked similar to what the manufacturer had used. No one tells you what to use or tries to sell you anything when you go to an RV park. This was discovered on AMAZON (don't you love them?). ) and it worked like a charm. In my rig, a tank full of waste weighs around 300 pounds. This stuff isn't a problem!.

It accomplished its goal
4/5

It is simple to use. There are no sharp edges that could cut gloves or hamds. Shorter than advertised, but plenty long enough to anchor a low shed at four points.
