The strap has a 3000 pound weight capacity. s, but more than 1000 lb The retractable spring mechanism will be broken as a result of your actions.
No, there isn't a way to make the strap shorter by locking it. If they did, I believe the load would be too great, causing the mechanical parts to break. I've got three of these, and they're fantastic!

I was stuck in the mud and my minivan was sinking in a friend's backyard, so he brought over his small Toytoa 4x4 truck and hooked one end of the strap to his front, while I connected the other end to my minivan's frame. This worked like a charm, to say the least. I was blown away by how quickly the line retracted, how light it was, how long it lasted, and how bright yellow it was. Later that evening, I went out and bought three - One will be given as a gift, and the other two will be used for both the car and the van. It's incredibly simple to keep track of.
In the car, these are extremely useful. In the trunk, there are no dangling or slack straps. You can get stuck in the snow in Alaska and need a little help from time to time. These have been instrumental in my survival. When a good Samaritan pulls me out, they usually marvel at my tow strap, which I then hand over to them as a thank you for saving my life. As a result, I had to place an additional order!.
Tangles are avoided and everything is kept clean thanks to the clever self-storing design. Easy to use, it automatically takes up slack and keeps itself off the ground, as well as preventing it from being run over by a towed vehicle if it gets too close. I purchased two in case a heavier pull or longer distance is required; they can be used side by side or end to end, though end to end is only for getting back on the road to where only one is required.
We bought one of these a long time ago (so long ago that we have no idea where we got it). We were overjoyed to discover it from this seller once more. When we lived in a ski resort, my husband used it to pull tourists out of snowbanks more times than we can count. People admired it and wanted to know where he got it every time he used it because it is so unique and practical. This tow strap has the advantage of being easily adjustable to whatever length is required by the situation. It also takes up very little space when stored. It has a tremendous amount of strength. With our 4 wheel drive vehicle, we've used it several times since moving from the ski resort to Florida to pull up unwanted trees on our property. If you buy this, you will not be disappointed if you ever need it.
I've had one for quite some time. When someone slides off the road in the mountainous west during the winter, it has happened a few times. I like how the spring inside keeps enough tension so you don't have to hold it on the vehicle while adding tension before trying to pull it out. I also like that it's all self-contained, so when you're finished, the strap simply retracts into its housing. This year, I purchased two more for my roommates because it is far too good a product to not have in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
When the package arrived and the man was friendly, I went inside and opened it, and right as I did, the Amazon truck got stuck in the mud, what a coincidence that he got stuck and I had just ordered it, so guess what, we pulled him out with my truck and used this to pull him out like nothing, it worked great, and I would recommend it. I didn't have my phone with me because it was charging inside; otherwise, I would have snapped a photo.
The fact that the tension is always on the strap is extremely convenient. While mounting and dismounting my ATV, the strap remains connected. The way the strap tucks away is very appealing to me. I don't waste time packing the strap in between brush and log pulls. When trying to wrap a pile of brush, a strap is far superior to a chain. I got a strap for my brother, and he loved it. He adored it! I believe I will receive a few more!.
