These are designed for metal-framed mobile homes. I drilled a hole in the clamp and attached it to the wood main rails with 2 inch lag screws on my wood shed, and I got it wrapped around the rail at least once.
If the ground is soft, I used a long bar to fit into the bolt holes and screwed them in place.
Yes, they comply with HUD requirements.
I can tell you that in Georgia, this has been considered a tie-down for a hurricane building permit or a mobile home permit.

I used it to build a 10 x 16 shed. These are actually for mobile homes and come with 8 foot strapping and a mh clip. I drilled a hole in the clasp and screwed it to the wood rails to get one loop around the beam. I also put 80 pound concrete on top of the beam, 1 foot x 1 foot. A 3 foot 2 x4 was also used to drill into the ground.
We haven't had any hurricanes yet this year, but we did have some gusty winds while a hurricane passed through the gulf (FL West coast), and the trailer stayed steady and well anchored!.
Despite the lack of instructions, the item was simple to install (following YouTube videos). I used cement to secure the posts. This was used to secure a travel trailer or recreational vehicle in place. Attaching to the frame of the RV worked perfectly. The RV does not sway as much as it used to.
When a neighbor requested that the tie downs under his mobile home be replaced, this was exactly what we needed. When we noticed that the bolts were missing in the package and contacted customer service, they immediately shipped them out and we received them the next day. We are confident that the mobile home will not "fly away" during a severe storm because the installation was relatively simple.
These stakes and straps were ideal for my needs, which included securing a tank in the event of flooding. They would have also performed admirably in their intended application. I screwed them in with a pipe wrench laying sideways in the groove.
They're simple to operate - Attach to the building after anchoring in the ground. br>This is a very sturdy and solid piece of furniture. br>Excellent craftsmanship.
Anchors for augers that are solid. They were used to anchor one of my antique cabin remodels, bringing it up to code. To make a pilot hole, you may need to use a hog drill, depending on your soil.
They were used to secure my garden shed, which was 9' x 12'.
