WARNING - DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE BUYING As I did not see any instructions in the box for this replacement part (at least that I could find), but my experience as a commercial appliance repair technician led me to believe that I was capable of handling this repair reasonably well. As a starting point, I pulled the knob outward with moderate pressure and then removed it. In order to perform this repair, I then moved the range outside and unplugged it. By doing this, I would increase the likelihood of failing to earn a charge. In fact, I also noticed that there was a substantial amount of dust and food under the range, so I grabbed a dustpan and broom and cleaned these areas. The dirt under there was so bad that sweeping up would not be able to remove all the items that my (now deceased) cat had thrown under there, so I got out the bucket, cleaner, and mop and scrubbed it all down. Despite the space being limited in my small apartment, I managed to maneuver out of the way behind the range by moving aside other items.
