When I hit the sink, the pouring spout on my "original" one chipped off. This one from Amazon lasted almost two years, so I replaced it with another one from Amazon. I kept twisting the top off in order to put it in the dishwasher but it never cracked. My top connector to the handle is broken as a result of a bump breaking off the top nub. After that, I bought another from Amazon and it hasn't given me any issues for over a year now. The top I take off is taking more time these days because I am more cautious.
I found it to be effective.

I have the same issue - it drips all the time and is a huge mess, the coffee tastes great, but the carafe with my $60 Mr. Coffee maker setup never worked that way, indicating a definite design flaw on this unit.

It was one year ago when I purchased a replacement pot, and this morning the support tab broke off again! The broken design on my pot should not force me to buy a new one every year! I hate it!.
Despite being extremely careful with it after the first experience, the plastic of the first carafe broke in just a year. We bought another one, which broke in about a year as well despite being extremely careful. A weak spot of the lid is actually the plastic above the handle, where the lid fits. Taking it apart isn't feasible, so you may want to epoxy the lid or buy I really like the carafe, however, if you make the full 10 cups of coffee, you will have to pour it slowly or slightly lift the lid when pouring, or it will drip, as other reviewers have stated. In terms of the coffeemaker itself, we absolutely love it. I love the carafe, but not so much the jar.
I really like this coffee maker, but the pot is made of thin glass so you have to be very careful about damaging another pot I accidentally broke mine and had to buy another for $35 but it is a very nice coffee maker it is just that the glass could be a little more durable.
Although they are nice, they are a bit pricey and easy to break. Don't let it get to you!
**It's time for the latest update As a result. Once again, I am here. The new one has a dent/crack on the bottom and leaks. I don't know if it's just bad luck or not. I now have a third one on the way. I've already had them break, but somehow this keeps happening.
