The size chart worked well for me and the suit fits perfectly. My youngest is short and very thin, so small is a very good fit for him, but has very little room to grow. Since he's freezing, I didn't want it to be too big. I have not yet tested it with water, so I will post an update if I find any issues. My skinny kid finds the cuffs and ankles quite snug (even on the skinniest of my students), but I think that's supposed to be so water won't leak out.
Sadly, our baby's teeth start chattering after about ten minutes in the pool when it's too cold. He loves swimming but gets so cold in our local pool. Our attempt to dry out using body warmers and shorty wetsuits failed. My wife and I ordered more than 8 different wetsuits to try to find one that was comfortable and fitted In the long run they were all too small or too baggy, if they fitted at all. His height is 31 inches, he weighs 23 pounds, and he is 13 months old. Considering the price, I chose the 2T since he was almost too big for the 0T and we wanted it to last at least 6 months. This one seemed as though it would work the best, with his body being a little tighter. Although the legs and arms are too long, folding them down helped.
The only issue we encountered was that when we went under the water, the suit became quite a bit larger and began to ride up some areas of his neck. It is apparently completely normal for someone who has never owned a wetsuit to experience that though I have never owned one.
Having said that I believe it would be a nightmare to try and squeeze him into the smaller size and I am unsure how long it would fit him at this point. Additionally, it does not appear that there is any longer a 3mm available. Keeping him warm was a challenge he didn't show any signs of being cold until about 30 minutes into the trip (probably due to a wet head and a more baggy suit). The benefit of that is that we will be able to swim a lot further than when we were first getting in after 10 minutes Time is up in 15 minutes!.
My 2 yr old bought this for us. Since she is very slender (22 lbs) and gets cold easily, and we live in a region where summer temps are cool, she gets chills easily. Although all of the wetsuits we bought were tall enough for her, none of them fit her well enough to be functional even if they were tall enough. Furthermore, this suit has a proportionately slimmer waist and thighs than some of the other suits, which is perfect for our kid. She only had a small amount of room for upward growth in this size, but it was the only suit that even remotely fit snugly enough to keep her warm. We think it is stretchy enough for her to grow a bit in height and around, and she will still be able to use it for around growth as well. A great choice for slender children - Just a little bit of lean is visible on arms and legs. Her comfort in it is evident. Aside from that, there are no complaints or chafings. There is a lot of freedom to move around. This seems to be a well-made product. There are no tears or holes in the seams. We found this wetsuit after trying several others until we found one that kept her perfectly warm in lake water on a cool day in the 70s. I'm so glad!.
We bought this wetsuit for the 2 year old boy in our family. He only wants to swim, making it impossible since we live in Northern California, a cold place with no beach. In the water (January), the suit kept him relatively warm for about 15 minutes. On the beach, it kept him very warm. The water is getting warmer, so it will be fun to keep him in the water longer. It would be great if there was an upgraded version with a thicker mm and a little bootie hood.
The item is adorable, however. A small tear on a seam was discovered after the initial use of the garment. I was not the one who ripped this, but the sewn was incorrect. It is a fantastic wetsuit. In the past, he would only stay in the pool for about 20 minutes. He no longer feels too cold, though, because of this wetsuit.
