Questions & Answers
No, it's only for flat spokes with flat blades. Use some rubber from an inner tube and a medium-sized vice grip to hold a round spoke while tensioning and truing a wheel. You can also use a piece of tape on the spoke just above the nipple to track the excess spoke twist.

With this, I was able to effortlessly twist that spoke back. Of course, I turned the nipple at the same time and with the same amount of force so that the spoke tension remained constant.
When building or truing a wheel with bladed spokes, this is an absolute must. Allows me to see and correct spoke twist in any wheel, regardless of whether or not I built it. I've received factory wheels that appeared to be true but had inconsistent spoke tension and a low average spoke tension. I ended up truing or retruing these wheels because preventing spoke twist with a small adjustable wrench was not working.
In addition, the tool is large enough to be comfortable to use for long periods of time. In the toolkit of any wheel builder, this is a must-have.
Does a good job of keeping the spoke in place. You'll want to get it as close to the spoke nipple as possible. Purchase a boxed set. You won't be able to get the holder close to the nipple with end-style nipple wrenches like a donut or similar. It takes a little twisting with elliptical blades to get them to hold firm against the spoke nipple torque, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to true them up in no time.
Without this spoke holder, it is impossible to true a wheel after replacing bladed spokes. The cost is a fraction of the cost of replacing a broken spoke and retruing the wheel in a shop.
This is a fantastic tool. Given that it's a Park Tool, the price was excellent. ) It's a good solution. For anyone with bladed spoked wheels, this is a must-have.
It's not required equipment, but it makes building a wheel so much easier. I'm not sure I'd ever attempt a blade spoke wheel without it!.
This is a fantastic park tool to have in your bike toolbox. When you need it, it'll come in handy, and it'll last a long time.
