Questions & Answers

What kind of cable do you need? A top pull or a bottom pull?

Basically, it's a two-pull system. Both ways can be used

Do you know the size?Is it going to fit me How many 6mm seat tubes do you have?

There is a possibility that I may be wrong. I know that derailleurs that mount on the down tube come with two spacer sets to allow them to be adjusted to fit three different Here is the link to the help page.

How do you set up a triple crankset with this derailleur? Are 48 tooth sprockets compatible with it?

Has it been tested with a Shimano Tourney FC-equipped bike The A073 crankset has a 7/8" bore and 16" stroke How does the fach 50/39/30 work?

Could this replacement be used as an alternative to the ?

We were in Sam's room. The mount point for your water bottle (if you use it or plan to use it) concerns me. Due to the fact that this is a high mount derailleur, the mounting screw would be attached really close to the bottom of the mount. The Shimano FD-T is a low mount, top pull derailleur that might be a better option for you

Engineered and produced with the highest quality by Shimano
5/5

As far as I know, Shimano does not cite the Altus as one of its best models This upgrade could have been done on the stock cheap-end derailleurs, but this was a fairly simple process That came with my Schwinn shifts easily, positively, and is easy to adjust. It was a little bit more challenging to install with the shims, but the advantages are that the bike is much more stable. This is a very tight fit. My regret would be that I should have done a bit more research and chosen the lower-priced cars Mount FD on a wall Instead, I will use the M310, since it is right under one of my bottle holders, but I didn't want to replace the downtube bottle holder, anyway it is cheap and looks nice, so I will keep There have been a number of comments about- As the cage is riveted, the chain will have to be broken before you can free it. I just wanted to recommend Do not spend a lot of time looking for a link to let you reuse the broken chain if you are willing to do that. Buying a new one (they're very affordable and usually come with a master link) and a 2-foot cable is all you need to upgrade To assist you in installing and later removing the master link, way park tool is available.

This is a good front derailleur at a low price
3/5

The old mountain bike I had in 1997 had a front derailleur made by Axera X that was having shifting problems. Thankfully, I found this Altus in its place since I couldn't find an exact replacement. There is supposed to be an omnidirectional cable pull either on top or at Even though this is true, it is much better suited for the It can potentially get tangled up with something on the trail when I set it up for top pull with the cable hanging outboard of the down tube. In this case, I used a crimp wire connector to protect the end of the cable since I didn't have an end cap. This derailleur does require you to break your chain before you can install it, so if your chain lacks a master link, you will also need to buy a chainbreaker, and you might as well replace your chain while you are at it. Apart from these minor issues, my bike now shifts properly, and it was straightforward to set up the limits and cable tension to get the correct.

Take care with your wishes and don't let them become reality When it comes to bicycle projects, it is sometimes best to avoid them
3/5

This was replaced with a Shimano Deore that seemed to work okay. It took me five hours to get the chain onto the large chainring after I installed this. Various things are tried, such as adjusting the high/low screws, barrel adjusters, and so on. I find this anomaly strange This meant that if I put it on the larger chainring, it would not go on the smaller chainring, and vice versa. It has taken me awhile to work out this problem and since the original was working fine I may have made a mistake just getting started. That's why I like DY projects, but then again, I'm thinking about my LBS. My bill would have been much higher if I had taken the bike to the mechanic to do all the previously done rehab work on it. Whether it's Deore's LBS or the original Deore FD depends on how you look at it. Oh my gosh!.

I have used it on my son's Trek MT220 and it's great
5/5

For my son's Trek MT220, which was equipped with a SR Suntour XCM front derailleur, the Altus M313 front derailleur was a perfect replacement. With the SR Suntour "Unified" XCM three sprocket crank set and 3/32" chain, the Altus performed well. In addition to installing EF51 shifters/brake levers to replace the original grip shifters, this was also installed. It's a good idea to read this if you have spent any time trying to figure out which parts fix your kids bike.

Design and construction are well done
5/5

It is far superior to the Shimano (no model listed) that it replaced in construction and design. This model frame comes with two sets of shims which could be used as a base on many different frame types. Any angle shows the tips of the adjusting screws the screws may not be seen There is no specific method to adjust the stops, but you can try it. It is not easy to locate the appropriate installation manual on the website, but if you're used to working on your own bike, installation should be fairly intuitive.

The part is of high quality and works perfectly
5/5

It wasn't until I learned about brand-specific shifters and derailers that I realized they were brand-specific. There are probably some applications where it doesn't happen, but if you're trying to turn a chevette into a Cadillac, make sure you do your research before you start adding parts.
I'm saying don't just throw parts at the problem, but have an end game in mind and have the understanding of how the adjustment for the part works. (YouTube is your best Since I'm an old-school BMXer, I care more about the quality of the components than the price of.

It seems to work well
5/5

There is nothing better than this derailleur. I just converted this frankinbike into a cyclo-bike It was still a cross bike, but I wanted to use it as a road/cross bike. Using this method, I was able to get great results. It is still an ongoing project to refine the shifting, but I like the looks and how smooth it is.

The derailleur is a good one
5/5

This is a great replacement for the cheap front derailleur on my bike. I installed and adjusted it with no problems. Just make sure to order the right model for the seat tube angle you have on your bike. Shifts as good or a little better than in the tourney (see pics).
