Questions & Answers

Is there anything else I need to order in addition to the seat?

No, it comes with everything you'll need to get it up and running. I had the same question, but due to the fact that I purchased an extra bracket, I was unable to answer it. This is a seat that both my son and I enjoy. Enjoy!

Is it possible to mount this seat on a bike that already has a rack? or do we have to go with the other Maxi? I've seen both responses on this page. ?

Yes. The bike seat sits just above the existing rack when attached to the seat post. With the seat post attachment still attached, the seat can be easily removed, and you should be able to fit other rack attachments like a basket once the seat is removed.

Is the seat post included in this version?

Yes, you can mount it directly to the bike; we love ours! It was also simple to purchase a second post and install it on my husband's bike; now we simply switch the seat from bike to bike as needed.

This or thule ridealong are the options. This seat doesn't appear to be very deep, does it? What about the child's hands? Where do they go? Is this something to be concerned about? thanks?

This was the ideal seat for us. I preferred how it attached to the bike to the Thule. Hands didn't appear to be a problem at all. They are unable to enter the spokes. I believe my child had her hands on my back or in her lap the majority of the time. I wholeheartedly endorse it.

My 1 and 5 month olds were inside when it came off
5/5

My son was fine, and my husband might not like it if I tell you this, but here's what happened: We bought it because he insisted on it: Oh my goodness, the awards, colors, and reviews make it appear to be far superior to the other seats we were considering. I was hesitant because, after all, it was just a bike seat, so what was the big deal? We decided that his bike was superior because he is more agile and balanced than I am. br>On our second trip, I slowed down to ask my husband which road to take on a fork ahead of us, and he slowed down and veered to our right, then sped up in front of me. To my mother's horror, as soon as he reached that speed, the entire seat came off, including our son, who was sitting in it with his arms flailing like spaghetti. br>I have no idea how I managed to get off my bike while still riding it without falling. I screamed, and my son cried out: MAMA, MAMA, MAMA, his seat rolled three times, and all I could think of was MAMA, MAMA, MAMA. His knees are scraped and his face is gliding across the pavement. He looks like grated cheese. br>My husband comes to a halt, I reach out and pick up my son, who is still bawling in fear and crying mama, mama. br>I examine him, and he appears to be in good health, save for a minor scrape on his knee. That is all there is to it. He wore a helmet to keep his face from colliding with the pavement. His legs were kept in place by the locks on his feet, and the foam-filled shoes helped. He was safely cupped inside his seat thanks to the rubber sides. br>The seat came off because my husband attached the wrong side of the seat lock to the bike's base; basically, the seat was never attached, and the inertia from his slowing down, turning, and speeding caused the seat to come off. So, when securing the seat to the base, pay special attention to hearing that "click" sound. Make sure your child is wearing a helmet at all times. I was so tempted not to put the one we had on that day on because it was way too big, our ride was less than half a mile, it was in a closed off walkway, and my son was resisting putting it on. Then it occurred to me: It would be awful if your husband fell off and your child hit his head. br>So, I'm glad I got that seat; it kept my son safe, and I always make sure my kids wear helmets. Even if it's only a 10-foot bike ride.

Today I was rear-ended by a vehicle
5/5

Today, my 2-year-old daughter and I were riding our bikes up the street to the park. While trying to pass us, a car clipped my handlebar. I'm probably going around 25 mph, at least that's the speed limit, though people do go faster. I had no idea what had happened to me at first. I'd heard the driver behind me accelerate, as if he was going to move into the left lane and pass me, but traffic was heavy, he cut it way too close, and he actually hit me. I'm not sure what he was thinking, especially since there was clearly a child on the back of the bike, but he sped away (luckily, someone got his plates and had a dash cam, so hopefully he won't be doing that to anyone else anytime soon). It took a few moments for me to realize what had happened. In fact, there are probably far too many seconds- and to try to get us off the road by gathering us. I was able to get us out of the street thanks to the next guy's quick braking ability. Daughter was sobbing, but other than a minor scratch on her knee - she was fine. She is in perfect health!! Even though I was badly hurt, we declined to go to the hospital when the ambulance arrived. This, along with a helmet, may have saved her life; it's well designed to (1) stay on - It was thrown to the side but remained attached to the bicycle frame; (2) Protect a child by properly wrapping him or her in a blanket. If someone had asked, I would have already recommended it, but this prompted me to consider writing a favorable review. This is a product to be proud of for the manufacturer.

The best bike seat I've ever used! Topeak child seats, which are rack mounted and heavier, are sold in all of the bike shops in our area
5/5

We placed our Thule Yepp order online and had it installed at a local bike shop. It's been an AWESOME experience using it for the past one year. 5 years. In comparison to the Topeak, the seat appears to be more minimalist, but it is extremely comfortable. When the seat is not in use, it is very simple to remove it. If you buy an extra adapter (which we haven't done because we've only used the inbuilt adapter), it's fairly simple to switch between bikes. And we see older kids sitting happily all the time, so I'm confident the seat will last our daughter until she is 3 or 4 (she is 2 now), making it ideal to use until she learns to ride her own bike! BTW, we considered other formats (front seat, trailer), and the rear seat is the best. It protects the child from the wind, is easier to maneuver, and has the smallest footprint compared to the trailer.

WARNING: THERE WILL BE NO KEY REPLACEMENT! WARNING: THERE WILL BE NO KEY REPLACEMENT! We like the seat, but if you lose your key, like I did, Yepp and Thule are completely unresponsive after several months of calls and emails
3/5

You simply cannot obtain a replacement key (though Yepp's frequently asked questions indicate that you can). You can slide the seat off the mount with the help of the key. My wife and I both have mounts, and we alternate with the seat, so we can't remove it without keys. I was surprised to learn that Yepp and Thule provided no customer support for this product.

I'm in love with this bike seat! In California, I use this bike seat on a daily basis to transport my daughter and I absolutely love it
5/5

I like this particular bike seat because it attaches to the main frame poll and does not require the use of a bike rack or anything else. This bike seat is perfect for my Van Moof Electrified S. If you need to get rid of the seat for any reason, it's also simple to do so.

I finally caved in and spent the extra cash on this seat, and it was well worth it
5/5

It's well-made, and my almost three-year-old finds the seat to be very comfortable, with plenty of room to grow. I have a wee ride kangaroo that he outgrew way before the recommended age, as well as an instep take2 bike trailer that he liked but got too hot in. I wish I had purchased the yepp maxi seat first, rather than the others. It was simple to install on my bike, and I appreciate the safety feature of the key not locking if it is not properly locked in. It is also simple to remove. My son is tall for his age, so I'm glad that this seat still allows him to grow. I chose the orange one to make myself more visible in traffic.
