My opinion is that it is not true. This product has been used for many applications with a variety of materials, and I have not encountered any issues.
There is no need to worry about it getting wet.

Both freewheels and hubs can be greased with this. While it tends to make the pawls a little noisy because it stays in place, it does allow the freewheel to spin a bit easier.

The stuff is awesome and the price is great. My favorite price and I use it pretty much anywhere there is metal to metal contact. I also use it on the threads of some bolts to keep them from creaking. On the Rock'n'Roll site, it says their stuff can be used anywhere. Some people swear by "bike specific grease", but some folks rant about "bike specific fluids. " All sorts of joint stuff like moving around the house gets done with it. Lawnmowers get it in their bearing surfaces, strollers get this stuff all over them, hinge pins get it all over these, etc. The stuff stays in place and is excellent. As much of the Park stuff that was on the surface as possible (or what was left of it) was replaced. Some of Park's materials did not last in some places, like on pedal bearings or such. They seemed to have "washed out", which is strange since the material was in semi-permanent form. The areas in which seals are used. So, this stuff still remains and I wash my bike every time I ride it. So even when it's very dry, I have to wash it to get rid of all dust. So overall, this stuff is hard to properly wash out. extremely pleased with this purchase, as the tube provides me with a long-lasting supply I don't need to spend my money on a lb tub that I wouldn't use for a long time.
Collets are extremely well lubricated with this product. As a bonus As you can see in the picture, the tube is screwed on to my needle point pump for pinpoint application!.

On a shot shell reloader, it was recommended to use this grease on the collet resizer. There is not much friction between the surface and the object, so it stays in place despite being super sticky. It does not matter where you migrate to.
Reinserting and placing the small bearings made them stick well to the bore. As a result, the bearings are now rolling smoothly. There is little requirement to get the job done with the tube of grease so it should keep for a long time. After I put them back on my bike, I must take it for a spin for final evaluation. In terms of sticking, it does stick well to the bearings. The product is excellent.

A great product for lubricating Mec reloaders or for use in choke tubes. Unlike some similar products, this one doesn't make a mess.
This is what I got to reload shotshells with my MEC shotshell reloader, Despite staying put and lubricating well, it can be a real hassle to remove. It's two thumbs up for this!.
