Seeing the actual width of the cable is impossible since it is completely enclosed. There are four diameters, each 1/4 inch in diameter. There is a lot of weight to it.

For some reason, I could not make it work

The thing I needed was something to slip over a Seatylock chain for extra There was no way for it to fit over the small end. Other than that, the cable is extremely durable. There is not much "give" in the loop ends because they are very rigid. Although this cable would have been a good buy, it just wasn't the best fit for me.

There is no evidence of theft of my bike

The bike is not protected by this, so not sure if it is actually effective. Even though my bike has been stolen several times now in this college town, I have been able to keep it for almost a year! The next thing we know, it might happen.
