Seven eighths of an inch diameter at the widest point
Seeing the actual width of the cable is impossible since it is completely enclosed. There are four diameters, each 1/4 inch in diameter. There is a lot of weight to it.
My knowledge of the topic is limited. Rather than using it to secure my bike while I'm at home, I use it when I'm at work.

There is not much "give" in the loop ends because they are very rigid. Although this cable would have been a good buy, it just wasn't the best fit for me.
The bike is not protected by this, so not sure if it is actually effective. Even though my bike has been stolen several times now in this college town, I have been able to keep it for almost a year! The next thing we know, it might happen.
This cable is made of heavy duty plastic with a thick coating to prevent damage to the item being locked.
