I took a measurement of the plastic that covered the crimp, and it came out to be. 98/. At the largest spot, a dial caliper was used. Because of the plastic cover, it's almost round. It may be difficult to get the cable's eye to that size by squeezing it, but I hope this helps.
To keep the two ends together, a standard padlock will suffice. As for the second part of your question, it depends on the LENGTH you require; as you can see, this one is a 7-footer, but they are available in a variety of lengths.
These are heavy-duty wires. I'm confident that my belongings are safe from the average thief.
A 1" hole can be squeezed through by squeezing tightly with pliers. A 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" hole can be made by squeezing the hole with your fingers.

I bought it for my home gym, oddly enough. I perform a variety of therapeutic exercises for my shoulders and needed to schedule a two-hour appointment. For a single pulley, there is a two-handed solution. I purchased this cable and added two handles to each end. In this manner, I am able to complete a two-fold task. It's held up well so far and is the ideal length for my exercises.
My iMac was previously secured to the leg and frame of my desk. My iMac does not get scratched because of the high quality and vinyl case. Although it is thicker than I had anticipated, it served me well. I wish security cable manufacturers would include pennies, dimes, or quarters in their packaging so that we could compare thickness. I had the option of using 5mm cable at that point. It is important for people to understand that this is being done to slow down crooks. No cable can put an end to theft. Cables are simple to cut. Thieves are put off by thicker ones. They begin by cutting and peeling the vinyl, then picking and cutting braids one at a time. The thicker the cable, the longer it takes for them to complete the task. This cable was purchased solely to keep a potential thief at bay. I just don't like being an easy target, so I leave my iMac out in the open for a thief to pick up if he decides to break in. (pictures of the iMac secured to a desk will be available soon).
During deer hunting, I needed a 7-foot security steel cable to secure my generator to my utility trailer. This steal cable was exactly what I needed to prevent a jerk from stealing my generator while I was out hunting. Most likely saved the life of a thief!.
When combined with a U-shape, this is the perfect length. Lock. Put one loop in the U-shape and the other in the front wheel loop. The back wheel and bike frame are locked to a fixed object using this lock.
One suggestion I have is for customers like myself who did not consider the extra thickness of two loops trying to fit inside a standard padlock. Perhaps a brief reminder in your product description would be helpful.
Great cable, but buy a little more than you think you'll need. The length is correct, but looping and circling takes longer than you might think.
I hated it when the coiled one snapped back and chipped the paint off my other bike. Without the use of major bolt cutters, no one can cut this cable. It provides the highest level of protection for your motorcycle.
The cable, on the other hand, serves me well. It serves as an add-on to my bicycle lock. The cable on the lock is only 4 feet long, which is insufficient when I need to secure my bike to a tree. br>I like how the coding is on the outside of the steel in the cable. It feels silky smooth to the touch, and I don't have to worry about my hands getting dirty.
