This is the largest and most powerful tent stake I've ever seen. The ground is hard AND rocky when I go camping in the Texas Hill Country along the Guadalupe River. I used to use the standard tent stakes, which are small metal stakes that come with the tent. Those that bend when a hammer or rock is used to try to drive them into the ground. In such situations, you can either relocate to a softer area or simply ignore it. br>br>However, with these bad boys, this isn't the case. They are strong, and it would take a lot for them to bend under pressure, which they did not do. I pounded them with a full-size hammer as hard as I could, and they remained intact; They refused to bend and were driven deep into the Texas soil. This purchase has made me extremely happy. They'll hold my tent and canopy in place more securely than before. This purchase has exceeded my expectations. Additional Information: br>br> It also comes with a drawstring carry bag. The phrase "heavy duty, high strength" is deceptive. I hammered four stakes into the ground, two of which bent. They're hollow, which is the issue. I'm stuck with them now, and they'll probably just sit in my camping gear for a few years until I'm sick of wasting $20 on them and donate them to a thrift store or something. I suppose they'd do better in softer soil, but there was nothing in their Amazon listing that said "don't use these in hard soil. ".
These are quite substantial. That is, after all, the point. They are rigid and do not warp or bend. We used them for car camping to keep a cabin-style tent from blowing away in high winds. Backpacking isn't recommended. The end with the eyelet and flange is one of our favorites because it allows you to secure your guy lines and then pull them out later. Without some basic maintenance, the finish will eventually wear away and rust. I suppose that's to be expected when you're driving steel into the ground, like 3in1 oil or something, but I suppose that's to be expected when you're driving steel into the ground.
Because the material isn't particularly thick, you'll need to take extra caution when storing these stakes, as they're huge nails! br>br>What I like best about them is how versatile they are; there are tie-ins, for example. off spots, as well as the head of the nail protruding about an inch, which makes tightening a rope loop a breeze. I got the four-pack, which came in a nice drawstring pouch. These stakes are, as expected, quite substantial. Because I live in Arizona, where there is a lot of hard packed dirt and rock, tent stakes usually bend with the first hammer strike, but these were hammered in with a 3lb sledgehammer, hitting a couple of small rocks in the ground without bending the main stake. One of them did bend on the tab part due to me missing with the sledge, but it had no effect on its function.

Stakes like these are badass. They stayed straight and pried out without bending or scratching the paint as I beat them through caliche and decomposed granite. Extra flies and tarps are easy to attach with the heads. They're HEAVY, so don't bring them with you if you're planning on backpacking. Your tent, on the other hand, will not be affected by the wind. In West Texas, these were used in extremely windy conditions. Days were spent being held captive.
I'm so glad I ordered these stakes ahead of time for our camping trip this week. Because the ground where we set up was difficult, I used these stakes, which worked perfectly.
